It is a problem to foreign audiences because many countries were involved only to have silly robots easily quashed by bloated alien monsters. Compare it with the Transformers movies, at least they do not present foreign involvement, or not that much, that is. Better ignore the rest of the world, and just give the audience the idea that their individual countries are secretly taking measures to deal with alien threats than actually depicting countries like incompetent fools. And if you take the rest of the world on the table, be sure you give them (or at least most of them) their due credit.

With their vast resources and (expendable) manpower, Russia and China could have done a neat job exterminating the kaijus. It is not that I do not want the US to win (the hell I care who wins, anyway). But again, they do not need to have the “final” credit either.

---------------------

Richard, I do not know what to say about your recent article. I have no problem with the other parts, but the Man of Steel section . . . Well, as General Zod told Jor-El, “Heresy!”

Every beginning has an end.

Actually, those other countries and their robots did just fine until the kaiju were evolved to counter them.

And only Gipsy Danger is a match to the evolved kaijus because it has the best pilots and it is a walking nuclear reactor. Russia, anyone?

Actually, Gipsy Danger worked because it was outdated and the kaiju didn't have a defense against its archaic systems, because it had been decommissioned in favor of more successful and newer models -- like the Russian one or the one driven by the triplets.

You’re missing the point. Everything else didn’t work except Gipsy Danger. Period. And it being outdated is a pathetic excuse (not referring to your argument, but to the movie itself). If anything, Cherno Alpha, being the oldest model, should have had that excuse. But no, America should have its way.

Del Toro should have learned a thing or two from Avengers. While it’s pretty clear from the beginning that Hulk could smash all the Chitauri to pieces without breaking sweat, everybody—and I mean every superhero assembled—did their fair share of smashing. And there’s no “last man left standing.” It’s “all men still standing” in the end (and a woman, with one man lying but alive, if you want to be literal). But no, Del Toro can’t have that. All the pilots must die a silly death save the pilots of Gipsy Danger, and Mr. Good Australian Father survived only because he was injured and no longer capable of copiloting Striker Eureka.

Every beginning has an end.

A little support for my contention that Pacific Rim 2 may indeed happen.

Umm its a very nice cosplay of Emperor Palatine but if I may ask what does that have to do with there being a Pacific Rim 2?
Some very good photos though, thanks for sharing.

Damn. As you've know doubt guessed, I had the wrong link loaded up to Paste. Here's one that will, I hope, take you to a discussion of the possibility of there being a Pacific Rim 2:

Nice article on The Sundering (except that it doesn't include the names of any of us novelists except for Bob):

Check out the cover of my new eBook The Impostor #2: The Blood Machine. The cover is the work of my talented artist friend Jamie Stubkjaer. The eBook itself should be available on Amazon by the end of the day.

SO I have an actual question for you Richard...But I am unsure of how to ask without being all spoilery. SO X happens in the Companions when Y happens...This will effect Aoth Fezim because X is a big thing about his character. Have you already thought about how this will affect Aoth in future brotherhood novels? ._.

If we're talking about the same thing, yes, I have thought about it, and I believe I'll be able to handle it.

Question for you, Mr. Byers, about The Reaver. I know, you won't be able to give away any significant plot details, buuuuuut,... given that the book is set in the very large area of the Sea of Fallen Stars, will we see the Abolethic Soverignty or Xxiphu have any involvement in your books? Or will we get to find out what happens to Xxiphu in your book, even as a brief mention? Any chance Xxiphu will sink deep into the sea to be lost during the Sundering?

PS: I really love the concept of Stedd and really look forward to this chapter in the Sundering!

4E Realms was awful, but it's water under the Boareskyr Bridge. Let's make 5E Realms truly shine!

I guess it's not excessively spoilerish to say that The Reaver does not focus on Xxiphu or the Abolethic Sovereignty.

I like aboleths, but there are so many cool things on, under, and around the Sea of Fallen Stars that no one novel could incorporate them all. I had to select elements that would fit together to make what I hope is an entertaining, cohesive story.
