Cyric is right, so the demons and fiends cannot keep coming back. BTW, Cyric, it's a hundred years, not a thousand.
Also Edain, if direct conflict cannot solve the matter, then just close the portal or whatever the fiends and demons are coming from. Gods have the power to do that, and there are many examples of that in books such as in Elminster in Hell when she went to Avernus to try and save the Sage of Shadowdale. Another thing, gods have the power to predict things that will happen in their portfolio so I bet at least several of the gods will know before the event happens and then the god will do whatever he/she can to stop it from happening. |
