There's been some NPCs detailed in the various volumes of the Candlekeep Compendium, including a couple of Lords of Waterdeep that I created. One or more of those may suit your purposes. Just click on the link in my sig.

Well, there's like 5k+ in the canon lists in my sig. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

You mean for avatars?

There's a lot here http://www.hotavatars.com/avatar-collection-506.html but you have to resize them

There are many sites with fantasy pictures (those you're mentioned are fine, I like to print some for PCs when I'm DMing) for NPCs this one is good http://phaere-tail.tripod.com/

There's plenty of freeware for cropping and resizing images... I prefer Irfanview, myself.

I've used Paint (I'm not so skillful with these things), surely there are better programs (Photoshop?, my avatar's lost much on quality due to resizing)

Again, Irfanview is freeware, and it's a good one.
