So does anyone have any information or theories on the origins of the modern Nar tribesfolk.
I know they are related to ancient Narfelli but something must have happened to make modern Nar so different.
The cultural differences are one thing but can be explained away by the Nar rejecting the culture of their ancestors.
However the language also appears to have changed, the names of tribes and places for modern narfell are vastly different from Dun Tharos and Nentyarch.
So what happened to cause this change. I'm thinking a migration of people into the area and I have my own suspicions as to who but I was wondering if people had any thoughts ot info themselves and if not then I have free range to make stuff up.
George if you read this I would be especially interested ti hear your thoughts since ancient narfell is one of your specialties
Sorry to kill it dead like that! There's a lot more story and lore involved than just "it's the Suren" but the East is such a huge, blank canvas that there are more holes than shovels to fill them! This time there was a handy shovel right next to the hole.

Never really looked outside of faerun. Maybe this will be my introduction as im about to go and research the suren. Narfell is another area that really needs a bit of detail
The Suren were once the Kalmyks who suddenly appeared out of Hagga Shan (a mountain range on the north coast).
The only problem is that Hagga Shan is not big enough to support a population capable of conquering several empires (the Kalmyks conquered some Kao empire - I really need to read more).
So first thing I wonder is where on Toril the Kalmyks came from.
The second thing I wonder is why (although I do have an idea for this already that I can use for Narfell).
Now current inhabitants of Hagga-Shan are a group of dwarves that moved there from Sossai (I assume that means Sossal). So could the Kalmyks and therefore Suren be from Sossal before conquering the remains of Raumathar and Narfell.
Looks like the next few years of my life will be spent reading up on the Hordelands area and Sossal and probably Kara Tur.
And if anyone has any information on this already then I would appreciate a few pointers or whatever people may have already extrapolated.
