Wizard of the Coast released the following images:
- "The Gossamer Plain": First of the Empyrean Odyssey trilogy
- "Scream of Stone": Last of the Watercourse trilogy
- "Best of the Realms, Book III": Best of Elaine
Thanks to zau, who found those pictures.
A note to all fellow webmasters: Please note the title correction of Thomas' new trilogy, it's "empyrean" now...

The cover for The Gossamer Plain is classic fantasy stuff, my first thought was Eddings, but also quite Tolkienesque. I like it.
Not particularly fond of the style for Scream Of Stone, and that's my least favourite of the covers for the series.
I like the one for the Best Of EC though. I'm looking forward to that one, and I still need to pick up the Best Of Eddie... |

I wonder if anyone isn't looking forward to the Best of Elaine? 
Anyway, Best of EC cover looks fun. I'm guessing the cover characters are Kymil (no sticky up hair, so its not Elaith!), Arilyn (obviously) and Liriel maybe, but she looks a tad old in that pic. Any better guesses? |

Like The Gossamer Plain cover. Colorful and classic-looking.
Dislike (hate?) the Scream of Stone cover--gaudy with a dated look ("classic" and "dated" are not synonyms!).
Like the Best of the Realms cover, though I have no clue who the two people beside Arilyn are. |

The Gossamer Plain cover is nice, but does not do much for me personally.
I like the cover for Scream of Stone, I cant help it, the cover of these books remind me of old 70's and early 80's pulp sci-fi and sword & sorcery. I have a great preference for things dated as well as classic. |

| I suspect that the Scream of Stone cover is a 'working version' of the final art. It is a much cruder painting style than the previous 2 covers in the trilogy. Wizards often do this - cf: the black and white Drizzt covers we've seen. |

Heh. I kind of do too, but the colors on that cover are borderline nauseating (though I agree, it may not be the final cover). |

The Howling Delve: That guy looks creepy. Anyway, I doubt that's the final cover.
The Shattered Mask: Wow, these new covers apparently can't get enough T&A--and muscles, and tattered fabric spraying out in ribbons.  What are they thinking? These covers are so stylized they've missed the flavor of the novels, I think. |

A lot of recent covers have been that way, IMO. If I went by cover art alone, I would have stopped buying Realms products -- novels and sourcebooks -- several years ago. I truly wonder why their art directors have chosen to move in this direction. |

Would it surprise any one if I said I prefer the older version of the Sembia books? Tastes differ, but the covers are less and less to my personal taste; these would be nice for Planescape, but they don't exactly give me a realms feel.
The covers for the Wizards series are OK though. |

I love the cover for The Gossamer Plain. It looks like it's by the same artist who did Voyage of the Mourning Dawn (Eberr...).
Elaine's anthology is very nice too and i'm glad they've kept the same style as Ed's anthologies.
Whilst the Sembia covers are ok (i'm not too much of a fan of Swanland's art....it's good, but it's a certain flavor that I think would be best in Ravenloft rather than the Realms), I prefer the original covers.
Don't like the Scream of Stone cover, but I didn't like the previous two either. |
