I know clerics, druids and a few others can do some relative healing spells and the like but I was thinking of making a character class that is only focuses on that and probably some aiding spells. Sort of like a wizard but focused on divine spells and probably having just as many spells to choose from. Before I made I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a class already made for this purpose, does anyone know?

there is the base Healer class from the Miniatures Handbook. It is an excellent healer, at Lv 1 they add their Cha bonus to all healing spells they cast (add that with the augment healing feat and a cure light wounds at Character Level 1 / Healer Lv 1 with a Cha of 18 is 1d8+7 Hp healed |

There's a Healer class in the Miniatures Handbook which does almost what you want. There's also the Field Medic (? - I think that's the name) in Heroes of Battle which is a prestige class. You'll probably have to add a lot of spells if you want them to have as many spells as a wizard though. |
These, in the day when heaven was falling, The hour when earth's foundations fled, Followed their mercenary calling And took their wages and are dead.
Their shoulders held the sky suspended; They stood, and earth's foundations stay; What God abandoned, these defended, And saved the sum of things for pay. |

Not to intrude, or anything, but I wanted to third that information. My Eberron group (Ack! Out, out foul fiend!) has a Healer multiclassed as a cleric as well who is simply a font of restorative goodness. Definitely look into it, it sounds exactly like what you're looking for.
The expanded spell list might be a problem -- Healer's is somewhat constricted -- but an individual character who wants more spell power can always multiclass into cleric. Having a character who has as much spell breadth as a wizard, yet focuses upon healing, is really just a cleric with the Augment Healing feat.

In the few games I've played with the healer class, we've added any new healing spells (like faith healing for instance) to the healer's spell list, as well as spells that remove status effects. We also allowed healer to spontaneously cast healing spells in the same way as clerics, so that they can exchange out that remove paralysis if what they really need is a cure moderate wounds spell. That makes them a bit more playable. In fact, the only time I've seen the vow of poverty really work is with a healer character by my friend Dana Driscoll (the editor in chief of Silven Publishing) |

One thing that is important with Healers in the party is to make sure they dont become another player's medic. Playing Vampire:the Masquerade we had a group like that where one player became just auxillory to another. It took the fun out of the game. I think one thing to do with the healer is to turn her/him into a battle character as well... imagine fighting someone who just wades through crowds of fighters continually regenerating and regrowing lost limbs and deep wounds. It makes the most sense in battles vs many lower level fighters. |
