Figured I would start a thread about homebrew creatures that are specific to the Forgotten Realms. Here is one I came up with.

Children of Malar
Large beast, chaotic evil
Armor Class: 17

Speed: 60 ft.

Stats: Str: 18 Dex: 18 Con: 18 Int: 8 Wis: 14 Cha: 10

Skills: Acrobatics +10, Stealth +10, Perception +8, Deception +6
Damage Resistances

psychic bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical weapons.

Senses: darkvision 60ft, passive Perception 15
Languages

-
Challenge

7 (2900 XP)

Mimic.

The Children of Malar can mimic the name of anyone it hears. It must have heard the name of the person before it can use the ability.

Possession.

Whenever a Child of Malar makes eye contact with it's victim, they must make a Wisdom save (DC 15) or fly into an animalistic rage. The victims then attack their own allies. This lasts for 2 rounds. The victim affected cannot be affected again for 24 hours.

Understand All Languages..

All Children of Malar can understand all spoken languages but cannot speak them except for the victim's name. See their Mimic ability.

Pack Tactics.

Children of Malar have advantage on attack rolls against a creature if at least one of the Children of Malar's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Keen Smell: Children of Malar have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Actions

Bite.

Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., Hit: 13 (2d8+4) piercing damage.

Children of Malar:

The hyena is one of nature’s deadliest and most cunning predators. It is said that Malar holds these creatures in high regard. Sages say that Malar was so impressed with them that he imbued a few with part of his own essence thus creating the vicious Children of Malar. These creatures are more intelligent, larger, and stronger than their lesser cousins. They resemble their kin but that is all. They are the epitome of this type of predator. Their shoulders are larger, they have long fangs like that of a saber-tooth cat, and they move with deadly grace and efficiency. These creatures hunt in packs with absolute ruthlessness. It is said that they can understand all spoken languages but cannot speak except for their mimic ability which allows them to speak the names of their victims in order to lure them on their own. They also posses the ability to temporarily posses their victims and incite an animal rage that causes them to attack their allies.

I may change a few things so consider this under construction.

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!”
#8213; J.R.R. Tolkien

*I endorse everything Dark Wizard says*.
