Do any of you play this MUD? What do you think of it?

I'm not immediately familiar with it.

Do you have a link?

Interesting...

"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is
to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious
thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed
words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn
then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they
will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding."

:D

MUD stands for Multi User Dungeon - it's like an MMORPG, but without graphics, just text.

Anyone play it?

Hey guys,
I've been a player of FK's since pre-2000, off and on, but many things just tear me back to it. The sheer depth of the game is amazing - you can become just about anything you set your mind to. We have an attentive, involved staff and fair, unbiased set of immortals who help run the game from an administrative standpoint. Player-run roleplays, IMM-driven quests and roleplays, application system to apply for things out of the ordinary, and a breadth of active players. The game is RP-intensive and the world is shaped by events that have taken place by players over the course of the last 15 years. It's 2E time-based, really (pre-return of Bane, Mystra is still around, etc), but is slowly moving in the direction of 3/3.5E. Areas are added frequently and bugs are dealt with quickly (players have opportunities to report bugs and make game suggestions).

Even after reading, I'm still not clear on how this works.

http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org/gettingstarted.php

That page will outline how to start - how to get connected using a telnet client (zMud works well, but FANG is a java-based client that our admins have put together to work with FKMud).

The MUD is based on 3.x rules currently.

For those who don't know what a MUD is, it's a text-based game where you use text to command your character. There's a small tutorial which teaches you how to do stuff and then you're placed in a beginner area of your hometown, where you can rack up experience up to lvl 10.

Dalor - well, the game itself is not hard, just don't venture beyond the town at first and start in Waterdeep.
