I believe there's not much you guys can do for me, but I just need to ask: Why is it so hard to get FR novels here in Brazil?

I know there are the ebooks, but I like to have them in my shelf, to organize, show to my friends or just to stare

Only a few of them are translated to portuguese (If I'm not mistaken, only the Crystal Shard trilogy) and the original ones are hard to be found in our book stores.
I have some of them I imported, but they usually take something like 5 weeks to be delivered and the price gets really high with taxes, international transport, etc.

I guess that's it ... Sorry for the lame english and all the complaints.

Do you ever visit the US on vacation? One trip to NYC for holiday and you could get like 10 paperbacks. Which would be a pain to bring back to Brazil but maybe worth it!

The other suggestion might be to buy one of those bulk buys on ebay where you get a collection of FR books for one price and shipped at once. I find if you go off amazon and buy them individually internationally you pay way more fore shipping than the books. At least if you have one shipment you only pay for it once.

I don't believe the taxes are high on books for import tariffs anywhere. I import from the USA all the time and never pay duty on books (just everything else) especially used ones. Of course, we're under NAFTA but it shouldn't be a high amount in Brazil I would think.

Good luck! I'm sure many share your frustration!

Seravin,

Never visited US, and when I do so, I'll probably need 5 or 6 bags to bring back stuff!

The "bulk buys" is a great suggestion, but most of them do not ship to Brazil (As this example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Forgotten-Realms-Set-Dark-Elf-Legend-Drizzt-1-16-NEW-Complete-Series-Lot-/270868683603?pt=US_Fiction_Books&hash=item3f11081b53)

The ones that ship to brazil, are really expensive, sometimes with a price higher than the product (As this example, 103 for the books and 97 for the shipping service http://www.ebay.com/itm/46-pb-lot-FORGOTTEN-REALMS-VALOR-ISLAND-RADIANCE-EXILE-SHADOW-VENOM-ANNIHILATION-/250927614170?pt=US_Fiction_Books&hash=item3a6c7388da)

Would you please share any site/seller you use?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Amazon owns them,so they should be trustworthy.........but how come they have free worldwide delivery while amazon charges their own is beyond my understanding.

That's for sales' purposes, ile. They must have poor sales from international consumers.

Well ... since the book costs 5 dollars, I guess I can buy one as a test and see how long it takes to be delivered.

I wouldn't like to order something from a series, since I'll only order one and waiting for the others to arrive would be a pain :P

Would Ghostwalker from Eric Scott de Brie be a good choice? Never read a book from him, but saw a nice review here a few days ago ...

@entreri3478 - Got your link and will take a look at it! Thanks!

Sounds great. Ebay has been acting weird lately...so if you find something you like and it says i don't ship internationally, please just let me know and i can work around it.

dansonata, I´m also from Brazil and like you I love to read FR novels. First,in Brazil there are some RPG stores with a lot of FR-related books. Second, importing a book may be a slow process, whorever, when I buy from Amazon, there are only shipping costs. If I´m not mistaken, books don´t have taxes.

If you don't mind having to read the books in Portuguese from Portugal, a Portuguese company did start translating some of R.A. Salvatore's books (Dark Elf and Icewind Dale trilogies), but they're a lot more expensive than buying the books from amazon.

Personally, I get all my stuff from amazon.co.uk
