Well met. I thought that I had asked this question a long time ago, but the Search function didn't reveal it. I fear that it got lost in the Cyberfell. So, will one who knows please tell us: What is the correct pronunciation of "Whamite"?

They're named after the game designer and artist Tom Wham, so I've always assumed 'wam-might'.

That is how I initially read it. I can see it as possibly being pronouced 'way-might' or 'wam-mitee' or even'way-mitee' but I'm no expert on pronounciation

I just found out about Tom Wham from reading The Great Khan Game thread, which makes the first syllable of "Whamite Islands" pretty much a gimme. (He was apparently into verbal tricks: read the name of the board game which he designed out loud for a lesser epiphany.) Whether the rest of the pronunciation is "mite," "ite" (like Kyle's little brother's name but with a "t" instead of a "k"), "itty" (as in "-bitty"), or "ighty" (as in "mighty" sans "m") I know not.

I am fairly certain, however, that it does not rhyme with "Bob."
