Did I know how to play one? Sure, my last character was a cleric who was devoured by zombies. This made the DM happy. He handed me a list of deities to choose from. I looked it over an asked who are these guys? Where is the Deities Demigods thingy? Little did I know the DM subscribed (!) to something called Dragon Magazine. And he liked those articles from ”the Greenwood fellow” So, at the age of 10 in 1985, I inadvertently went to the Forgotten Realms. Homebrew style of course there was no official setting yet.
