Posted - 24 Nov 2010 : 21:55:17 I found a great old 2e kit. The Caradhaker, Dwarven Illithid Hunters. Anybody have any interest in seeing a 3.5 conversion for this? Mod, am I allowed to do that here? It will involve a lot of cut n paste of old materiel. |

Posted - 25 Nov 2010 : 01:12:02 Thanks Brimstone, they did indeed reprint it to a limited extent in the XPH, saves me a little bit of work. I would encourage anybody interested to read the original article. It is much more in-depth, brilliant even |

Posted - 25 Nov 2010 : 00:23:12 The 3E XPH had a prestige class called the Illithid Slayer, or Slayer in the SRD. Alot of the backstory is the same... |

Posted - 25 Nov 2010 : 00:19:53 lol, I'm not challenging your (or Bruce's, or Dragon's) copyright, Fellfire. Adapting or evolving old lore into new is both perfectly fine and strongly encouraged - legal considerations only become an issue when you plan to publish and profit from the material (and you must then be very careful to respect the ownership of intellectual properties). Every DM and player (and Candlekeep scribe) can offer contributions which, in some small way, add Realmslore which might better the setting for all. You can always read through various Wizbro licensing declarations if you're concerned.
I just couldn't recall ever reading about this kit or anything like it. Mind Flayers are rather menacing opponents, very interesting to see a group dedicated to combating them (and the tools/approaches they'd use).
Sadly, I do not own a copy of this Dragon writing. |

Posted - 24 Nov 2010 : 23:58:52 It originally appeared in Dragon Magazine #245 written by Bruce Cordell. I don't think it showed up elsewhere. This one is too good to languish, forgotten, on a dusty shelf. The idea of a dwarven monastery somewhere in the Middledark is taking shape in my mind. I own neither Bruce Cordell nor Dragon Magazine. |
