Which person from the Realms would you like to befriend and why?

I might befriend my most favorite villain, Telamont. And betray him before he betrays me first.
Alystra Illianniis Posted - 16 Oct 2010 : 05:59:46
No, it's fine, but I really have no idea what you were referring to with most of that stuff. Twilight I can't stand, so just avoid, and I've never played Baldur's gate games, unless one counts the two DA games. The stuff about goblinoid tribes and rival wizards I just didn't get. But hey- whatever floats your boat, man!

And yeah, some of my campaigns get a bit zany, but it's mostly a product of people wanting to do bazaar things with their PC's (like the girl in my last group with the weird curse) and me just being my usual evil self about giving them what they want in ways that are not what they intended. Or having them reap what they sow in twisted but funny ways- like the nasty little cat statue incident. Some of those things lead to really great adventures, like the wizard's tower run that came out of the PC who stole the cat statue from the shrine of Bast (Pashutsa in my home realm). They never DID quite get to rescuing that poor cat lord from the wizard!!

Actually, this past week, I've been reading Elminster's Ecologies Appendix II's section on The High Moor, saw the Twilight movie that came out over the summer, thought about gettin back to playin NWN (Re: Grimgnaw reference and thoughts thereof), read the Harry Potter thread by Jellenet here and how ppl are receptive to havin'em in their respective campaigns (I always put RW stuff I like in my Realms), read this thread and thought about my favourite Realms character and why he's so awsome, thought about what we'd do if he was in my party regarding the adventure hooks in the book I'm reading (and what he'd want from the copper dragons in the area, which I began to understand is the same thing I'd want!), thought about what we'd seek to do about the rivals of the sorcerer who used to employ him, and thought about buying Planescape: Torment (gog.com got it). Put all that together, and you'd find my post makes absolute perfect sense!

That was juss the inner workings of my post. But really, all you had to do was read the 2e or 3e Monster Manual lore on copper dragons (I RP that b/c dragons are so much smarter and wiser than people, ALL types of dragons can be of different alignments and different personalities - not colour coding who they are - and I juss happen to dig the ones who have my sense of humor the most; the MM's make that be the copper ones!) and do some research on Jan Jansen from BG2, and then my post would've made perfect sense to you!

You tend to have freaky campaigns yourself Alystra, so I wonder how you failed to put the details together from my post to the point that it was too wierd for you. Shame on you!

Once you've been spun around through the spokes of the Great Wheel a few times you get used to that sort of strangeness and just take it in stride. Puzzling out the ranting of one addled mage is nothing compared to navigating a modron bureaucracy. Or trying to find your way around Eltabbar.

Oooo-kay..... That's just- weird. I think I'd like to be friends with Kara, the song dragon from the YoRD books. Or maybe the Thann family. Come to think of it, Being friends with Liriel Baenre could be fun, too.
bladeinAmn Posted - 15 Oct 2010 : 06:04:16
(I want to be surprised that no one has said this already for themselves) I think me and Jan Jansen from BG2 would get along really well. His cousin Beeloo also seems like good company, when he's not on the run, that is!

Also, I think it'd be so fun to become friends w/a friendly dragon who has mine - and Jan's - sense of humor! Not for any sense of power, but rather one whom we can share our sense of humor with, like the description on Copper Dragons! One whom we can live vicariously through!

Like we'd joke w/it to intimidate vampires by showing up where they're at, bearing fangs and having claws twitching, and then upon lookin at their fearful faces, say that "Don't worry! My favourite story is Twilight! Y'know, by Stephanie Meyer! So, are y'all the Volturi? Prolly not b/c I saw 1 of you pick your nose unbeknownst to you that the girl was watching you! So what do y'all think of the Monks of the Long Death? 'Know they from Thay? 'Guess they aint all wizards, eh? Gettin back to the things that matter, which of you are Team Jacob, and which of you are Team Edward?"

Then go intimidate the goblinoid tribes in the High Moor that live by raiding, into knitting Hello Kitty patterns into their armor; teach'em that speaking deliberately exaggerated urban broken english w/dramatic gesticulations followed by finishing sentences in dramatic grunts and spitballs is actually secret code to getting better prices when bartering in Soubar; then come off at'em as an aggressive revival preacher and teach'em that rolling over like dogs is a religious experience that brings spiritual and financial prosperity!

And finally introduce yourself to a conniving wizard that you are the famous ancient wyrm known as the great Calishite genie-dragon, parttime planewalker, fulltime sage "Aballa-kazzam-yafrantikalla-cullaz-yamanarion-feyvander-culinarion-yoonowut-iymsayinarion," and then arrogantly tell'em that if he didn't say it right the 1st time that he's not as smart as he thinks he is, and that if he took time to study saying it that's he's juss a fool w/o any wisdom, showing how way over his head he really is, and really isn't at all worthy of the 3 wishes to be granted that the dragon here randomly showed up for! And that while the conniving wizard's name and title on Toril is 'Framkul the Fire Dominator' or something like that, all throughout the planes he's known as 'Farf the Quondam!' and nobody cares at all about'em and all are fully wise to all his contrived conniving schemes! Things like that!

And then there's the ideas that Jan would love to share with him/her!

Ka'Narlist and Artemis Entreri...

Same with me for: chilling with my drow bard Lothir, watching my gnome pyromaniac- er, pyromancer/alchemist wizard Beznik (from a SAFE distance, mind you- he's rather clumsy), and running from Morganna, Lothir's psycho half-sister.

Nobody would want to be friends with their own characters?

I would try and get Qilue to teach me to dance...

As for my characters.
I'ld hang with Tarlek (bar crawling, skirt chasing, bard), watch Rathmir (eccentric to the point of loony tunes wizard) with amusement, and head for the hills if I even got wind of Bastion (man with no name, everybody dies, antihero fighter).

teehee! I'm pretty sure most of my characters would murder me or make me lump around all their loot... This may have something to do with my two most noteworthy characters being a former Drow-slave psionic assassin and a psychotic gnomish clown.

As for actual friends, I think being on excellent terms with the scion of a powerful and at least vaguely benevolent Waterdhavian noble house would be a good place to start...

I'd like to be friend with Giogi Wyvernspur, Danilo and Magadon.

Ayrik Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 07:07:24
My character would probably try to mug me. Or let me tag along until I got killed, so he could loot the corpse.
althen artren Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 04:23:38
My character is boring. All that power and all he does is
sit in the backround and run agents all the time.
Alystra Illianniis Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 03:52:41
Lol, yeah, same here! I'd LOVE to meet my bard and his bunch! (Except that they're from off-world, so they'd be kinda lost, too...)

I figured that went without saying, really. But yes, I'd definitely be friends with Joran and his family, and my other Forgotten Realms characters.

If gods don't count I would like to have the second mightiest beeing the Sojourner as my friend. He can make normal slaads to death slaads without a problem so imagine what power he can give me if he likes me?

I'd like to drink mead with Azoun V, have Elminster toss me a grand tour of the realms, being toured on Evermeet by Amlaruil Moonflower.. and dance with Alustriel.

you really want to be in the friend-zone?

If by "friend-zone" you mean covey of women trained in the arts of hedonism, seduction, and sensual fullfillment then yes, yes I would.

On a serious note, I'd probably like to hang out with Drizzt, if even to learn some fancy sword-play and to go on some of his crazy adventures. I'd also like to drink some with Mirt and have some noon-tea with Alustriel (if she does that sorta thing) and go bar-hopping with Danilo.
Kyrene Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 10:25:52
<- Sir Kijani Saffron. Quite a few lasses and ladies in Neverwinter (and elsewhere) 'dig' him, and he's 'dug' most of them in return...
Ayrik Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 10:00:18
There's a halfling named Blinky who owes me a lot of money. I'd only need a few minutes.

Wow, if I could befriend anyone in the 'Realms? Hmmm... I think I would go with Srinshee! She knows all the amazing spells! Talk about a great tutor! But don't ask me to raise a mythal!

I like living!!
Dalor Darden Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 05:50:10
If I could truly choose to be IN the Realms and have a friend, it would have to be King Azoun of Cormyr.

Not only, if he were my friend, could he help me out...I could help him out too! He could Knight me, I could give him knowledge even Vangie couldn't relate...

If I'm going to have friends...have friends in high places! He could put me in touch with wizardly tutors, perhaps give me my own fief, and we could slum it in the bars too!

Azoun all the way...
Jelennet Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 05:36:54
For me it's hard to anwser... Hard to choose... I wanted to befriend almost everyone I read about, but not very evil characters, because I'm not very evil myself. Let' see... Drizzt, Elminster, Seven Sisters, Danilo, Jarlaxle, Cattie-Brie, Arylin, Liriel, Fyodor and many, many others.
And also many people from Baldur's gate games and mods.

I'd like to be "friends" with Drizzt. Okay, so I like my men like my coffee.... Dark and hot. But I figure I could get him over Cat, and maybe teach him how to have a little fun, too. Aside from him, maybe Quilue or Storm, or Dove- and Elminster, of course!! He's like the fun granddad I never had!

Oh, this is easy. Laeral Silverhand. If she looks like she does in the Heroes Lorebook and is as sweet as I hear, I'd love to be her friend! And if it turned out to be more than that later after Khelben passed away, well... I wouldn't complain.

Good call!

Thank you, Wolly. I'm glad you approve!
