Well met, fellow scribes

Candlekeep has been around almost ten years. Looking around the site and forum, as I was yesterday, I realised that the old logos are looking a little tired.

I therefore put it out to my fellow artistic scribes, to come up with any suggestions and indeed put any expertise into the design of a new logo for both the site and the forum (whilst the two are currently different, I feel it would be best to have one logo).

Please feel free to come up with any suggestions for a theme in this thread, or indeed email me a draft JPEG.

Your credit will be provided on the Candlekeep site, of course, for any logo we use herein.

Many thanks.

This logo is a slight variant on the main logo which will grace the Candlekeep website. (In turn the main logo may also make it's way to the forum logo; we'll have a vote )

Wait. Candlekeep's a democracy?

So all the motivational whippings and flailing I've authorised were for nothing? But the Lady Hooded One insists? Hmmm.

Maybe she is Loviatar in disquise?

You're alive, Big Al! Long time, no see.

Well met

Aye, indeed I am, my dear Arivia. Apologies for my absence. It appears as though I have a fair bit of work to be getting on with

I like it. Sharp, distinctive, and legible. Not too gaudy or confusing. Good job, nefarious.

Just an idea on some other kind of logo, perhaps for another page on the site, perhaps some time far off in the future . . .

How about a combination of the symbols for Oghma, Deneir, Gond, Milil, etc., who supposedly are/have been favored within these hallowed grounds?

Perhaps with the symbol from the Keep's Inner Ward Token described in Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast?

Perhaps animated, to reveal each in sequence?

I apologize in advance that I don't even know how to begin to do what I've suggested, here.

(The Inner Ward Token's symbol might also be a good image for a "Click here to enter"-type of application.)

That was unexpected. Change has never been my thing, but in a couple of days I will have gotten used to it. Don't get me wrong, I like the logo, its just that it still "surprises" my eyes each time I look at the top of the page.

Like Mace, I was also caught off guard (I hadn't been following this scroll lately), but it looks good. Nice work, Nefarious!

It is really classy. It was the first thing I noticed when I came in the "doors" so to speak.

Well met

So here it is, the new Candlekeep forum logo! Many thanks to Andrew Stanbro (a.k.a. Nefarious) for this piece of work.
Nefarious Posted - 03 Jun 2009 : 03:16:10
The font is based off of the Morpheus font, which I recreated in Illustrator.
Dart Ambermoon Posted - 03 Jun 2009 : 02:28:03
I also think the one without the flame looks better. Fantastic work Nefarious.
DnDBreeder Posted - 03 Jun 2009 : 02:12:05
I love that font! Very nice design Nefarious. Did you design the font yourself?

~Wants to post his submissions to see what everyone thinks of them. :P ~
Nefarious Posted - 02 Jun 2009 : 17:15:48
The flame version was really just for fun. The original was without the flame and meant to be the primary logo. I have never had more fun designing a logo than I did with this one.
Erik Scott de Bie Posted - 02 Jun 2009 : 16:27:13
I like both, tending toward option 1 (without the flame). I think the flame as a D is maybe a little confusing in option 2.

An animated flame would be pretty cool, though!

Cheers

Thanks for the comments!

I would go with number one. I think it looks better without the flame.

Both of them looks great though.

I could also animate the flame using Flash.

Logo 2 works for me.

Thanks Nefarious.
These ones are allright.

very good stuff !
Nefarious Posted - 01 Jun 2009 : 20:48:58
They are hosted on a server which I pay for, so I see no reason that you wouldn't be able to view them, unless your ISP is blocking Network Solutions servers. It's possible the host was down temporarily (try again) but if people have a problem viewing them I can host them elsewhere.

Am I the only one ?

I really like the flame/candle-graphic. Though I'm not too sure about the burn/smoke mark above. It just doesn't look right.

I understand what you mean. I've been too long in the corporate design, I think.
