Hi all,

Long time lurker.

I loved that series. I picked those books up at a second hand book store and it was made me really aware of the forgotten realms setting.

I haven't been able to find much on google. Have they retired? What happened to Alias of Westgate and those other great characters?

They're probably close to retirement. Wiki says Jeff was born in 1957. No clue on Kate.

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail

Alias and her sisters have been overlooked; WotC decided to advance the timeline by 100 years, and they've simply not revisited anything pertaining to Alias.

An argument could be made that Alias and her sisters are immortal, since that was in the design specs for Flattery, and since Flattery was basically a prototype for Alias and her sisters... But it's not definite, and when I asked Jeff Grubb about it, his answer was that it would depend on the need of any future stories.

Jeff Grubb is still a part of the gaming industry, though he's not done anything D&D-related in a long time. I believe Kate Novak has left the gaming industry, though, and has the basic 9-5 job.

From Jeff Grubb, via Facebook:

"Elaine, feel free to pass along that neither of us are retired, but we are shifting about and working on other things. I'm a senior narrative designer for Amazon Games Studio, and the Lovely Bride is a Enrolled Agent (sort of a super-tax preparer) who is deeply involved with helping other Enrolled Agents. We are not retired, alas. And in any event, writers tend to die in harness - they don't retire so much as they just stop writing."

I devoured the Marvel Super Heroes box set and its supplements as a elementary school kid (probably not too long after it came out) and read (and immensely enjoyed) the Finder’s Stone trilogy for the first time in my early forties. Jeff and Kate have essentially been a source of joy for my entire life and I am very grateful to them.

Whenever someone asks where to start with Realms novels, the Finder's Stone trilogy is one of my recommendations.
