Had an interesting revelation when looking at the NPC bad guys in the "Rise of Tiamat" adventure - they don't tell you what class/level they are! Wow. They just stat them out for combat purposes. Kind of makes it hard to change/adapt them if you aren't a mechanics guru able to reverse engineer their abilities. Is that how all the current 5E adventures present NPC (i.e. class level) bad guys?

Yeah, they did the same thing in 4e, I think it sucks. You can't do an apples to apples comparison with your characters, and can't imho slowly raise there toughness as easily as you progress through a campaign against them.
