The quote was much like "When magic one doth weave, 'tis never wise to deceive." From where does the quote come?

Are you asking for the in-Realms source, or the real-world quote it's obviously riffing on?

This took a bit of search fu to find...

Page 27 of the 3E FRCS, in the section on mage runes:

quote:

Whenever magic one doth weave
’Tis never, ever, wise to deceive.

—Elminster of Shadowdale



This may have been a reprinting of earlier lore, but a quick search (maybe 5 minutes) did not find any other references.
