Love the concept! Thanks for clearing that up, SaMoCon.

The players will start to hear this Songwheels soothing tunes as soon as they near the Goblin Gully's exit, just before the lounge of the hobgoblin boss. It'll be hanging from the tree-hollow that marks the topside entrance to the gully, playing a soft meditative tune when winds rise.

I'll let you know how the players reacted later this day...

The Songwheel really helped set the tune for an awesome duel between the dragonborn paladin of the Lord of the Northwind (Bahamut) and the hobgoblin longsword wielding boss. After the hobgoblins honorable demise the party were drawn to the Songwheels tune, quickly guiding them through a tree hollow to a nice cliffside view of the High Road and its grassy Sword Coast-line. The warlock shot the branch from which the wheel turned caught it. But its weight and bulk managed to dissuade him from carrying it along.

I adapted the red religious vestment worn by the goblin to one of Angharradhan design, with upturned triangles in the carnations ending in three interlocked circles (as the cintamani balls). One of the few items plundered from en elven tomb, as the goblin gully has been carving into a long lost en well hidden tomb of a moon elven clans' underground mausoleum. The party warlock loved it and wears it now.

The beer stein was used in the local tavern as the inn was brazenly entered by the fighter, and refilled by the tavern wench at his sign.

I say this table is worthy of Alaundo's attention (for easy reference).

I like what you did there, Bladewind, because how you used or allowed the players to use the items made them better than what was written in the table and it sounds like everybody (including you) had fun.

Anybody who wants the Excel xls file with the 1000 item table can have it if you send me a PM with your email. I will attach the file "ArtTable2" in a reply back to you. Included will be two additional worksheets with the inspirations/credits and a preview of the work so far towards 100 magical art objects on which I have no idea when I will actually get back to work.

Make the best use of the system that's there, then modify the mechanics that don't allow you to have the fun you are looking for.

Wow. This is amazing, i wish someone would turn this into a Random treasure generator!

There is just so much here, its difficult to critisise. I tested the random variable / sp generator and it worked out fine. At first i wondered why you used SP, but now i get it.

I will post critisisms as i find them, but i expect i will be using this for a long time yet. Ill post feedback as i go.

Some more items that came up like furniture, relics, and household items.

The code to figure this out is the first number is just numerical order. The second number is average value in silver coins. The third number is a randomizer in case you want to roll the value. The fourth number is by what to multiply the rolled value. The first text is initial description ready to be plugged into any written adventure. The second text is the percentages the item is evaluated based on how many pieces of information is know by the seller. The third text is all the information that can be discovered by an appraiser with the appropriate skills, literacy, languages known. The hyperlinks go to the places where I was inspired.

Hmm... I hope you don't mind that I answer this in order, TBeholder.

A skeleton key is any kind of a master key made by a locksmith to open his locks minus the extra parts of the regular keys that would differentiate & unlock their mated locks.

Part of the value is knowing what you are selling and the other part is knowing whom to sell it to for that value. A book that is unknown could be anything and just be worthless. This one identifies how a necromancer and his family interacts with the problems that would arise. Use of this information can be helpful to finding such spellcasters trying to remain incognito in a civilian population. And, believe it or not, the original idea taken from its source was just the diary of a necromancer's teenage daughter. The revelation of a continuance to a believed ended noble line, was added later. All told, the book is still worth roughly 30 silver coins, which is less than the cost of a blank book of similar size & materials.

Again, this was taken from another source; however, it does fit with the whimsical nature of (Mystral/Mystra/Midnight)'s religion and nowhere does it say one controls said Chosen. It just brings one. Also compare this to a Greater Necklace of Prayer Beads, which can be manufactured. I am not saying this was a good idea to begin with; however, in my updated and more fully detailed listing of over 1500 mundane & magical art objects I have downgraded the summon to just a signaling that the Chosen can hear across the planes. If a Chosen decides to do anything is up to that Chosen in the manner & expedience that he sees fit. Such whistles are also sacred objects of the church that would be sought after and demanded from those not ordained into the mysteries of the faith... further enhancing its value.

I do find your statement about dwarves to be curious. Your notion seems to indicate you think they are more like Tinker Gnomes from Dragonlance that needlessly complicate simple things. It is a beautiful jewelry box. All the security such a box would need is everything that was built around it to protect the inhabitants of the space the box happens to occupy. If anyone is going to steal from the box then they would steal the whole box! The real world item that inspired this description has no such lock because it would have been unnecessary. On top of that, this item was the most highly valued thing on this list; moreover, the mostly wire design of the box is delicate so any lock would be of exceptionally limited use to anyone who wanted to get at something inside of the box by merely cutting through one side or just dashing the box against a hard stone.

Those points being made, this is all just suggested. Nothing is stopping any DM from making changes on the points you made or altering everything. You want a lock on the box <bam!> it's there. I'm not some prissy artiste who believes any alterations of his works is blasphemy - heck, what I am doing is altering many other peoples' works & endeavors.

Hello, all. Just dropping in to announce that the list of over 1600 art objects has been compiled with over 1300 pictures and over 330,000 words into a PDF file for download with each entry separated into a printable page that has clear sections for cutting apart and handing to the players has been uploaded into a dropbox account. While I would like nothing more than to make the download available in a public link, dropbox apparently does not allow for that to happen. Instead, dropbox requires an email address or a user account to be submitted by me for each person seeking to download the file. *sigh* Anyone who is interested, please send me a private message with your email or dropbox user ID so I can have dropbox send you the link for the file. Fair warning: the file is over 90MB accounting for over 1600 pages of art goodies. (Aaaaand that's the 5th time I used the word "over" so I apparently I like that word.)

The items are more fleshed out than what has been written in the previous postings with methods of diving the value of the objects adhering to an applied (but still arbitrary) internal system. I know a lot of the DCs are high primarily because I believe that the difficulty for many things would require true experts that must do research & take a lot of time to arrive at the true value of a thing (think Gandalf at the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring who finds an account of Isildur buried deep within a library at Minas Tirith in Gondor after having set off from the Shire 17 years earlier in search of answers about the One Ring). Those high DCs may mean that adventuring PCs cannot evaluate the the full worth of an item while on a quest but given the proper research environment, the right tools, open channels of communication with other scholars, a solid foundational skill, and time those numbers can be achieved. Just like I mentioned in prior posts, everything inside is a guideline to be used or ignored as you like.

So, if you are interested just PM me.

Learned Scribe SaMoCon,

I am beside myself with awe here. I am absolutely baffled at the enormity of this work you've done, how great it is, and how generous it is of you to provide something like this to the community. You good sir are a true Realms hero. A sincere thank you! I will definitely be sending you a PM with my email. I can't wait to show my players this on Saturday!

Best regards,
