Karen Memory by Elizabeth Bear - Steampunk western about a parlour girl in sort if Seattle-sort of San Francisco which is just pure fun. Also features the possible real Lone Ranger (who looks a bit different than he does on film), a Singer sewing machune turned steam-powered jaeger and a guy codenamed Nemo.

Paris After the Liberation by Anthony Beevor and Artemisia Cooper

La Petite Bijoux by Patrick Modiano. (In Swedish, though) Short, but very good.

And right now, a lot of Terry Pratchett.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

The Lone Ranger was based on a real person; look up Bass Reeves, sometime.

I need to continue that series but slogging through Return of the Crimson Guard was like the Bataan Death March for me.

For me ICE is trying too hard to emulate Erikson instead of doing his own thing.

Stonewielder started promising enough. It seemed to be leaning toward a sort of murder mystery, the first victim being a devotee to the Crippled God. But, as you say, he started trying to mimic Erikson.

On the other hand, I've flown through Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire trilogy and am halfway through Emperor of Thorns.

Finally finished Like a Mighty Army. Now I'm reading Dark Resonance -- it's one of the new batch of Shadowrun novels. I enjoyed a lot of the original run of Shadowrun novels, and I like the setting, so I'm checking it out.

Orb, Scepter, Throne seems promising. Toll the Hounds was my favorite from Erikson's series and this is supposed to be its sequel.

Shadowrun sounds like a fun setting, from what I read.

@Artemis: Where do you stand on Tavore and her decisions in the MBotF? I'll be paying a bit more attention to her on my re-read, but my first impression was that she elicited a lot of the same feelings I had for Stannis Baratheon: Someone seemingly trying to do the right thing, even though there was no easy means to accomplish it. Erikson has said that he was intentionally vague with her, though. He wanted the reader to question her actions and motivations.

It is! I loved the setting - although it started getting weird during the last two versions... Still: Cyberpunk Elves (among others)! I must take a look at the new novels thoug, in any case.

There were some slower segments, but the stuff with the Dying God was my favorite. It had a touch of horror that I really enjoyed.

I'll be finishing with Dark Resonance some time this day... Not sure what will be next. I got some other novelage the other day (including a steampunk book and another Shadowrun novel), too, but there is also some FR stuff that I've been meaning to get to...

Finished Elminster's Daughter. Enjoyed this one, though I do think Ed could use a better editor. 50 pages of filler could have easily been removed from this one and made it much stronger.

I'm now reading a steampunk book called The Diabolical Miss Hyde. It focuses on Eliza Jekyll, a doctor and forensics specialist that works with the local authorities there in London. And she also has access to her father's potion, which has a rather different effect on her than it did on her dad.
