I'm in between sessions right now and my PC is having a "moral" dilemma problem that I was looking to get other people's opinions on.

The Situation:

My NE Velsharoon cleric has been charmed by a succubus who is bound to a room until someone of good alignment frees her or attacks her. Furthermore the succubus has taken one of my bodyguards as a prisoner and will not release him until my cleric has freed her. My cleric has already sacrificed all of the known good characters in the dungeon and its a long way back to town. (Leaving my raunchy bodyguard with the succubus for any period of time is likely to result in several level losses for him.)

Proposed Solution:

Use summon monster 1 spell to summon up a Celestial Dog (LG) to attack the succubus thus triggering her release.

Questions:

1) I have been unable to find any rule which prevents an evil cleric from using the summon monster spell to summon a good creature. If someone knows of such a rule could they please give me a reference?

2) Summoning a good creature is casting a Good spell and as such may pose a threat to my alignment. Given that the end goal is evil (releasing a succubus) how serious of a sin do people consider this to be for a NE cleric? Should my cleric lose his spells until he gets an atonement spell?

3) Given that Velsharoon is living on a plane with Mystra and appears to be willing to ally with anyone to achieve his ends, does that mitigate any potential sin that my cleric would be comitting?

Thanks for any comments,
Exploit

We have a house rule that you can summon monsters within one alignment step of your own

edit: just out of interest why does it have to be a celestial dog?

I'd not worry about the cleric's alignment. An evil deity isn't going to sweat it if a cleric does a single good act, especially if the overall goal is evil. There's nothing preventing evil folks from doing good acts occasionally.

Summon celestial dog is a spell of good descriptor, a cleric cannot cast spells opposed to his alignment or his own deity (this option is for FR), so you cannot cast the spell (see PHB pg. 33, and summon monster spell)

Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells

A cleric can’t cast spells of an alignment opposed to his own or his deity’s (if he has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaos, evil, good, and law descriptors in their spell descriptions.

It looks like have to go back to town or find another good NPC closer.

I have a little smart solution, to break theis charm. Creat some undeads, and order them to folow this succubus around, make them nasy and stinky. When the succubus wants to get rid of them (if she attack them) You got a chance of a new save. Because as i see it undead are holy creatures to Velsharoon. Just an idea.

Will not work

1) A charmed character would not do something to offend new friend.
2) The charmer or its allies must attack the charmed traget to break spell. There is no retry under 3.5 rules.

The PC either has to find a good character or while searching wait for spell effect to wear off.
