hmm ... thinking about making a FR campaign with the conquestador/trader theme and have tried to find some info about the areas around Faerūn (specially Maztica) ... anyone knows where i can find something about what the Amnian carracks have found and done there?

I'm not familiar with the material myself, but have you checked the 2E Maztica boxed set? There were some modules set there too, but their names escape me. You can check this site for a list and cover blurb of the available Maztica stuff: FR stuff published by TSR
I'd also say you take a look through Lands of Intrigue for the Amnian details of their activities in the True World. 'Tis also available as a free download at the URL I reference above.
Truly Sian, that will be your best info, and its free! Also, check out the novels by Douglas Niles that deal with the events of finding Maztica. Tis a subject near and dear to me heart! The novels are Ironhelm, Viperhand and Feathered Dragon.
