I like lists and schedules so I just wanted to get an overview here of what the authors are working on for the Forgotten Realms and what we all have to look forward to. If any of the authors have any addition or changes to this then please let us all know.

Perhaps Alaundo or one of the moderators could make this sticky as well, if it's worthy and useful.

Phil Athans - The Watercourse Trilogy
Richard Baker - Swordmage (Book 1 of The Witchiron Blade)
Richard Lee Byers - Unclean (The Haunted Land, book 1 (due 2007))
Elaine Cunningham - Restoration (Songs and Swords, Book 6)
James P. David - Bloodwalk (The Wizards book 3)
Kameron M. Franklin - unknown
Ed Gentry - Neversfall (The Citadels, book 1)
Ed Greenwood - The Knights of Myth Drannor Trilogy
Jaleigh Johnson - The Howling Delve (The Dungeons, book 3)
Paul S. Kemp - The Twilight War Trilogy - Nov 2006
Jess Lebow - unknown
Murray Leeder - unknown
Thomas M. Reid - Books 2 & 3 of The Empyrean Odyssey.
R.A. Salvatore - Road of the Patriarch (Book 3 of The Sellswords)
Steven E. Schend - Blackstaff (The Wizards book 1)
Erik Scott de Bie - The Depths of Madness (The Dungeons book 1)
Lisa Smedman - The Lady Penitent Trilogy
Keith Francis Strohm - Bladesinger (book 4 of The Fighters)

I haven't listed any of the other "new dragons" authors here as I don't know if WotC only gave you a one-off tale in the anthology or if you will be writing for the Realms again. Shout up, and you can be added to the list

Still no idea of what books 2 and 4 of The Wizards are, and who is writing them.

Recent authors who are no longer part of FR:

Don Bassingthwaite - (moved to Eberron)
Edward Bolme - (moved to Eberron)
Dave Gross - (unknown )
Voronica Whitney-Robinson - Withdrawn from WotC

In stores now: Queen of the Depths (last in the Priests series and also a Year of Rogue Dragons tie-in, although it stands perfectly well on its own.)
May, 2006: The Ruin (last volume in the Year of Rogue Dragons trilogy.)
I'll have a novella (the ultimate prequel to Year of Rogue Dragons) in Realms of the Elves (not quite sure when that comes out.)
I'll be doing more Realms novels. Most likely, the next will appear in 2007. But I can't talk about the content yet.
If all goes well, I should have Realms short stories appearing occasionally in Dragon, also.

Well met

Indeed, a splendid idea. I have made this scroll sticky. Let this be the place to look for an up-to-date account of what authors are up to when penning for our beloved Realms

Thank ye, Richard. I have updated the list accordingly regarding Queen of the Depths. I'm wondering if mayhaps we should have yet another scroll dedicated to Realms features within Dragon and Dungeon magazine, especially with the recent influx of Waterdeep material increasing the profile of the Realms therein

You can put me down for "no new projects scheduled." At the moment, I'm up to my ears in non-Realms stuff.

Well met

Indeed (and list amended to reflect this). Although it's strangly quiet on the RAS front, I would have thought we would have heard his next project by now.

As for thy other comment, Elaine, I will try and find it within myself to forgive thee

Jaleigh Johnson, that lovely and talented member of the Young Dragons, is writing The Howling Delve (working title), book three (as scheduled when last I heard) of the Dungeons, due out sometime in 2007.

I was also under the impression that Son of Thunder is book THREE of the Fighters, and Bladesinger book FOUR. I'm pretty sure that's how it worked out, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, those who have more sensitive ears to the ground.

I am pretty sure Blackstaff is indeed book 1 of the Wizards, and Bloodwalk book 2 or 3. I could be wrong on any of this, however.

Cheers

You can probably remove Kameron M. Franklin from the list. As per his website, he has no forthcoming project for FR.

Some of us pray that there won't be...

Drizzt is WotC's golden boy. They'll not let go of him for a long, long time. I think it's safe to say that there will be another Drizzt trilogy in the next decade.

I'm hearing that The Howling Delve will be Book Two of The Dungeons.

You are correct on The Fighters series, and The Wizards series has Bloodwalk as Book Three.

There's been a little confusion on this point, I was originally told it would be book 2, but my contract has since listed it as book 3 of the series, so I'm going on that info for now.

It's odd, Jaleigh -- my contract says "Dungeon #2" as the working title, but I've asked and Susan assured me it would be book 1. So who knows?

[shrug] No, but it's not really that big a deal. It all just adds to the ambiguity and anticipation, I guess.

Aye, 'tis me! Information still sketchy on the release date, though is planned to be moved up in the series. I just sent in the second draft, hopefully for final edits when I'll likely have more info on when it'll be available. I'll let you guys here know ASAP for the ongoing list (where I'm known as James P. David?).

For right now, I'll let the excerpt in RotDII remain the primary teaser on the story, though I may drop little hints now and then.

Best,

Hello all,
Here's an update on my next project. It's going to be a trilogy (titles yet to be hashed out) that focuses on the drow. Specifically, on Hallistra of the War of the Spider Queen series. It's going to continue one of the threads from that series, and should be a blast to write. The first book is scheduled for release in February 2006.
And that's all I'm allowed to say!

Hm . . . Aliisza and Kanyr Vok, now Hallistra . . . I know we likely won't see TOO many drow stories at once, but I'd love to see a certain Breagan D'earthe scout get his own book, but I doubt that he had the fan base some of the other characters did . . .

This is splendid news indeed. I'm very happy to hear that WotC haven't simply abandoned the event, as happens all to often with FR novels series'. Be sure to return once ye know the title, so that we may update this list

L. Smedman + Drow = WIN! For me. (The last Serpent book must be about a rare form of Inchworl Yuan-ti because it's taking its damn time getting into my hands! grrr) Very capable hands. (I haven't read the WotSQ books yet though; waiting for all paperback, but I like drow, and I like the Yuan-ti books quite a lot.)

Kameron M. Franklin has nothing new?? What's up with that? I'm loving Madien of Pain. Is there something I don't know about?
