For those who might be interested, I was doing an experiment for someone else (taking some descriptions and trying to implement them into images). Bear in mind, I'm no artist, I'm an IT guy. Still, I've been having fun with blender, but sometimes it helps to try to do something not in your own head. The descriptions forced me to learn some new methods, which is exactly what I was looking for. I learned some stuff on making circular objects, transparency, insetting things, playing with text, created a font in something else, etc...

The below are all things I created OUTSIDE of those descriptions (for instance, I made one axe, but I wanted to make more, so I made some realms specific ones for the warlock knights of Vaasa, the descendants of Bodvar that served Melegaunt Tanthul, the churches of Velsharoon and Kossuth, et...). If someone wants to use the graphics I made for DM's guild on an item or something, I figured I'd share them up. Except for one, they're all available or commercial use for free, as long as you provide the attribution.

To note, on the above I was trying to make a more "crystalline" bloodstone wherein you could see the red flecks inside the green gemstone. Unfortunately, the transparency in blender seems to either let me make out internal things and lose the outer shell or only see the outside. I'm still learning though.

This one, unfortunately because of the crown I used for the symbol of Velsharoon must be non-commercially used. I may actually hunt down a more traditional crown now that I've used this one and learned, but for now... it is what it is
Bone Handled Hand Axe of the Dread Necromancer of Velsharoon (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4419452) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike license.

I'm going to try another axe today, a dwarven one, but what I want to play with is insetting things into metal, fonts, etc... Probably turn the shaft into something more rounded. Maybe turn it into a two headed axe. May also do an orcish doubleaxe with a bent pole in the middle so that the weilder is "the middle" of the two ends of the weapon for better balance (my fiancé talking about a weird barbell which enabled her to lift more weight made me think of it).

They do look interesting.

Can they be converted for printing?

They SHOULD all work if you want a physical object. I was thinking about making a few holy symbols as christmas ornaments for myself. That being said, I haven't printed any of these. I'm mostly making 3d models to play with the program and then take screen grabs of the items. I also recently learned how to inset things, and I was thinking about using holy symbols in that way, so I just did a few for the "gods that I consider the gods of magic". I made Savras's symbol, but it looks dorky (I may make a version that's only for a picture and not 3d printable, with transparency to show the eyes IN a crystal ball), and Leira's is a bitch to make from the little knowledge I have. I may turn around and then reuse some of them items for myself if I make a character (I found it really fun when I recently played my kercpa wizard/warlock of the fey Rakiki… and there were no kercpa miniatures that I liked... so I made my own and printed him out... and each time we played I had a different familiar... first a jackalope, then a tressym, then an owlcat, and finally a pixie). However, I noted it was hard to find things like a decent staff or wand, etc.... Some of them looked better in my head too than they did once I messed with the model (I'm kind of depressed the staff of fire doesn't look better, as I spent a lot of time learning how to spiral text upwards in 3d and making my own font of fire emblems).

Its also kind of weird what ends up looking really nice... that crown of fire #1.... I was surprised by it after making it. I really really like it. And its almost 100% me, except for some gems.... and after that I found out last night that there's an add on for meshes that you can turn on that gets you some additional creatable meshes that are diamonds, etc...

Ok, so today I'm playing with making various crowns, and I've done 3 so far this morning. I have to say, so far these are VERY nice looking. Even if all you do is click the links and take a look at the pictures, its worth some time.

Mythrell'aa's Crown of Luneira (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4445734) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution license.

When Mythrell'aa, Zulkir of Illusion, faked her own death using magics l that amongst other things made everyone think her name was Mythrellan, she had not been unprepared. Of course, she hadn't counted on the Thayan civil war occurring, nor did she fully trust the divinations of Yaphyll concerning her. Of course, Mythrell'aa, as a proper Leiran worshipper should be, trusted practically noone but her own magics. So, after confirming the truth of the prophecy for herself, she tactfully retreated to her flying enclave amongst the Tears of Selune, which she had renamed from Doubloon to Luneira.

When the spellplague hit, and Luneira was transferred to Abeir from Toril, Mythrell'aa could not help but laugh at the unexpected twist that would "remove her soul from the world". So, the prophecy had still come true. What she had not expected to hear several weeks later was the impish voice of Yaphyll Sirtula, Zulkir of Divination, for she knew the young woman to have been captured by the great necromancer of Thay. However, when she learned that Tam had not only freed her bindings so that she could cast for him, but that he had forcibly compelled the diviner to cast the very spell which "split her and cast one portion forward in time" such that she encountered the spellplague and was thrown to Abeir. Of course, what would happen next would change the lives of the two Zulkirs forever.

The Crown of Luneira was designed by Mythrell'aa herself and created by her own master craftsmen, most of whom knew better that to tell her that the crown was the "gaudiest thing that could ever be created". Most.... unfortunately for the poor soul that didn't know better.

Of course, the crown fits well within the enclave of Luneira, whose passion for illusion and enchantment is matched only by Mythrell'aa's strange fascination with pegasi, unicorns, and all things "fey".With its strange music and art "scene", heavily influenced by the trip to "Los Vaeygous" which Mythrell'aa had taken in following Elminster secretly to another world, the crown it not even nearly the most gaudy thing in the enclave. Several of her personal bards, dressed as "Elvi" as they were when she stole them from the other world could well compete for the title.

These look great, although the Moon Crown link doesn't seem to be working.

Also, would it be possible for you to come up with a "Serpent Crown" out of Calimshan? And to be a total pain, on a transparent background would be easier to use graphics wise. Good stuff.

OOOOOoooo, I'm a dummy thank you. I forgot to "publish" the moon crown.... and apparently the leaf crown too. Links below just so people can see them without scrolling back through.

Green Elven Crown of the Yuirwood Prince (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4445254) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution license.

Take a look, basically its a MUCH less gaudy version of the other crown, and the story behind it is "Mythrell'aa read about it when she was researching her enclave of Doubloon which she had tracked to the Tears of Selune, and she'd temporarily gotten the two enclaves confused. She'd eventually found out the name Selûnarra, and used it as a basis for her own name of Luneira (a subtle jab on mixing the named of Selune and Leira). When Mythrell'aa sought to make her own crown she decided to use this crown as a basis, but then she went overboard on additions in her descriptions to the craftsmen. When they returned to her with a drawing, one of them said something about it being overly gaudy.... his mistake."

Its not a total pain. I totally get the transparent background thing its why half my stuff has that). For the ones with the knotwork, that would be an issue, but for Calimshan I don't picture that.... if anything they MIGHT have Mandalas, but that doesn't strike me as a good idea.

As to making a serpent crown.... interesting new idea... let me see what I can find to adapt, and I'll try. Its sometimes fun to take someone else's idea and try to implement because it makes you explore something new. A lot of what I'm doing with these crowns involves me having learned something from helping on some other drawings and learning to use blender just a little bit better because the project involved a character in dethek that would be on a curved surface. I don't think the knotwork I'm currently using would work for that, so perhaps not that basis (although there might be a mandala with a snake motif....) anyway, off to while away an hour looking at snake images...… which also makes me think "couatl crown". I picture "yours" as more "cobra", but the other feels more "rattlesnake" or "coral snake"... if I find something I may make 2 models and see if Seethyr wants to make up some rules for a couatl one.

Lastly, since I'm specifically talking to you George... I was thinking about making a "Impiltur" crown... maybe a generic one for the Lords of Imprhas II. I didn't want to do the "royal" crown. The gist of where I was going to go would be to make a crossed wand and sword and use that in a circle, either on the sides or as the "points" of the crown. depending on what it looks like, if I can find a suitable helmet, I could put it around the top... or just have it as "the crown they wear at court". By the way, just talking about this makes me realize I want to find a decent helmet and maybe make some with fire wrapping them.... oh, and a snow crown..... and a lightning crown....

BTW, side tip on the making a picture have transparency that I didn't learn about for a long time, so figure I'll share... you may already know Krash, but others here it might help as well. I love paint.net for this one feature. I can use the magic wand, set the percentage that it uses to figure out what to "magically include" until its got what I want to remove, then just hit delete. So, like if I paint something in paint3d it automatically puts a background, so I can go into paint.net and remove it usually pretty quickly. Some things its easier to paint in blender if I have a lot of components and then just use snipping tool to take a screenshot, and others come out better if I paint it better in paint3d. There's probably better ways to do things, but I"m self teaching myself various tools, so I kind of get a mixed bag of how to do things.

Ok, take a look, see if you like it.

Serpent Crown #1 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4458180) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution license.

I've got a few other models I was looking at that would work instead of the 4 snakes intertwined. This one would also make a really good base for a crystal ball, a staff topper, etc... The coloration I chose was a first stab at it. I can try to change colors if you want something more specific. If the metals for instance you want are darksteel purple, blueshine blue, silver, gold, brass, adamantine black, or some other color of metal you can describe, I can change the crown to that. I just need some kind of idea. If you want the original .blend file, just hit me up on my private mail (you should still have it, if not PM me). The runes are meaningless and I resized them so that they are not the same as the original for angles, etc.. and turned them backwards. If you want specific text in say Thorass, Espruar, etc... let me know. We can move the gems, add more, etc... The flame on the backs is my creation, and if you have a specific black and white symbol in mind and want to send it to me (transparent works best), I can add it to my fonts. I mainly wanted to just get something in front of you to see if you like the base idea.

I respun it from this model.

Someone was requesting me to put a sword and shield on my "aarakocra ranger", but I have 4, so I'm not sure which one yet. Still, I think I know which one, and just because it tickles me to have a parrot based aarakocra carrying a hummingbird based short sword....

No one would be able to actually wear that crown. Way too top heavy!

The snake brennan image might work if it was just a simple band underneath that snake cluster - in other words, a lower centre of gravity.

I think that while the black looks cool, I need one made of precious metals as it's regalia. Maybe black opals for eyes ... as for the runes, what do they use in Calimshan? I'm too lazy to look it up. Alternatively, maybe just a single serpent head, rearing ...?

On it being top heavy.... magic... it does wonders

Ok, that's more to go on. Less black, more shiny. If more regal, maybe less decorating with fangs?

As to languages... they use Alzhedo for court, which according to 3e used the Thorass alphabet. Draconic as a language of magic makes sense. Barazhad elemental (sp?) makes sense too since old alzhedo was tied to the plane of air. A short word could be put on the snake (4 to 6 characters, possibly an activation word) if you like, or a longer phrase could be done around the rim.

Alternatively, if you want some glyph or image on it (symbol of Bhaelros for instance, maybe another god, maybe the symbol of Calimshan if there is one...) that's not too complex, I can add that. If you have a 2d image of it (jpg, png, etc..) that's pretty clean and not huge, I can make that a character in a font, I can then "type" that font into blender to show that character and then extrude it for depth. I can even make a curve of such images, but bear in mind, curving a flat character does distort it a bit. But that's how I so quickly made that crown of frost's little bitty series of snowflakes... I made a snowflake in paint.net, put it into a font, and then reimported that font with the snowflake and just typed that letter about 80 times and applied a curve to that string of text after rotating it 90 degrees on the x axis so that it stands up in a circle instead of being a flat circle of characters. Sometimes I do that just to get an idea of placement and look and then manually import the objects so they're not distorted (did that on the moon crown so the moons were clean).

As to the single snake, I was looking at some of those, so let me try another take for fun. Gonna finish up some font additions first of some deity symbols that I'm messing with.

Since I was already making it when I saw something about a new adventure path involving Auril

Auril Aurilandur Saukuruk Frostmaiden Symbol (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4461336) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution - Share Alike license.

Totally made by me (created the snowflake in paint.net) and if you want to use it just to get a 2d image, that's fine. If you want to add it to an item and thus have a "Frostmaiden item" also fine. I may actually make a wand of ice or something and stick this on it.

Was experimenting with an idea. Made a bunch of different fairy wings to add to people's models.

The Seven Zhanded Sun Swords of the Soulfire Phoenix (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4517928) by sleyvas is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution license.

The Seven Zhanded Sun Swords of the Soulfire Phoenix

During their time in Abeir, the Thayan refugees of the Thayan trade enclave of Balduran Bay expanded into numerous small pockets areas of Anchorome, Katashaka, Lopango, a portion of the transferred Shaar, an old Netherese enclave in orbit. These various groups formed a cooperative that came to be known as the United Tharchs of Toril. Wherever they lived, these "tharchs" sought out new allies amongst their neighboring populaces, for all the races of Toril were in danger from the dragons and primordials of Abeir.

When the inhabitants of the Wakanari Hightlands of Katashaka came under assault by a flight of rogue dragons, a wizard of the Katashakan tharch of the Western Pridelands was in their court trying to negotiate the establishment of a trade enclave. Seeing this as an excellent opportunity to show how good of an ally they could be, the wizard reached out to his home tharch and asked them to reach out to the other tharchs and sent help while he setup a teleport beacon. In a rare instance of solidarity, for all had heard of the grand Wakanari Highlands and knew the value in them as allies, wizards, priests, other spellcasters, and their bodyguards flooded the teleport beacon.

The battle was long and spread across the countryside. The troops of the tharchs, along with their spellcasting leaders, were cheered as they marched the streets below the sky islands of the councilors. Pa'ratxi, Tucati, Kocratuura, Peakocra, and Ibidean bird folk cheered alongside Tigran, Tabaxi, Lenastan, and other cat folk. The Watili flower folk hung garlands of flowers around the necks of their saviors. However, most surprising of all were the thousands of tiny muislings, who upon seeing the flag of the Tharch of the Western Pridelands, which consisted of a muisling mounted on an al-mi'raj aiming a spear at the open mouth of a tampant snake, who took a knee and pledged fealty to the tharchion on the spot. The influx of tiny mousefolk into the tharch would turn the tharch into the largest population of concentrated muislings on the continent.

Thankfully, noone looked into who had incited the dragons into attacking when the envoy and his retinue were in the presence of the Council of the Reborn Phoenix. Thankfully noone questioned how the tharchs were able to so readily provide such large scale manpower on nearly a moment's notice. Thankfully noone questioned the fact that no less than three Zulkirs came at the call of the envoy. The trade enclave was negotiated, and the terms were highly favorable for the tharchs.

At one point, one of the phoenix rulers of the Council of the Reborn Phoenix fell to numerous dragons assaulting it. After the battle, this Phoenix was rebirthed, and as a token of gratitude portions of its egg's shell were given to the leaders of each of the seven tharchs that had responded in aid. The shell pieces possessed some latent power related to fire, and so each tharch decided to make a magic weapon to commemorate the occasion.

The Seven Zhanded Sun Swords of the Soulfire Phoenix are what these weapons were named. Each has a blade shaped to resemble fire, and most have some sun symbology in their makeup, but none looks like the others exactly. None of them were overly powerful weapons, but they were not weak either. However, their true strength llies in their symbology of the alliance of the United Tharchs of Toril, and these weapons are considered a point o National Pride. Whenever a tharch sends an envoy to the Wakanari Highlands, they make a point of having someone in the delegation wearing the weapon for their tharch as a reminder that should the need arise, they can be called upon.

The Phoenix Blade of Peleverai is a mithral double bladed weapon with blue gemstones and has a symbol of Mystra attached to each side of the blade made of carved and magically strengthened sodalite.

The Phoenix Blade of Lopango is an adamantine blade with gold symbols of Talos and fiery symbology of Kossuth throughout.

The Phoenix Blade of Balduran Bay is a simple double bladed weapon with a red gemstone and a phoenix head upon its flat black pommel

The Phoenix Blade of Luneira is a steel bladed scimitar with blue gemstones and has a phoenix symbol attached to each side of the blade made of carved and magically strengthened sodalite.

The Phoenix Blade of Esh Alakar is an adamantine blade with little decoration beyond its amethyst gemstones set in a treated brass sun.

The Phoenix Blade of New Eltabbar was crafted by the same craftsman who worked on the Luneiran weapon. It possesses a golden phoenix along its darksteel blade with its ruby gemstones.

The Phoenix Blade of the Western Pridelands is a slightly wider double bladed weapon whose weight is offset by having some of the center mass removed. A bit of adamantine is added in this interior for strength, and its decorated with a phoenix head made of gold. The amber gemstones which decorate this weapon were also part of the reward given to the tharch for their aid.

Got kids driving you crazy with this COVID-19 craze? Want to give them something to do? Download this scene of 4 mousefolk taking on a "spitting fire snake". A
Fighter on an al-mi'raj thrusts a spear at its mouth, as a ranger stands atop a macaw skull and fires arrows, while a wizard hurls lightning, and finally another spellcaster directs an animate macaw talon to attack the spitting fire snake.

Will this successfully print? I doubt it, but maybe. Can you load it in paint3d and paint it anyway? Yep.
