In my research about links between Toril and Blood Tor, I've stumbled upon the marel, an aquatic elven people acting as servitors to Umberlee. In the 2E book The Moonsea, there is an offhand mention of a marel city called Mareliar, which is noted to house magical gates to the Elemental Plane of Water and Blood Tor. What is not noted is a location (though, it can be assumed to be somewhere beneath the Moonsea). The text could be read in such a way that implies Mareliar is what the marel call the sunken ruins of Northkeep, but I'm not sure whether this is what was actually intended. I have also read the 3E book Mysteries of the Moonsea, which doesn't shine light on the matter, and forgoes any mention of the name Mareliar at all. Does anyone know more about this subject?
