Has anyone ever done a 'Master List' of these?

And while I am on the subject, what about mountains, lakes, etc?

Woodlands?

It would make mapping so much easier if I had these kinds of resources.

A sadly brief list of marshes...

The Adderswamp
The Marsh of Chelimber
The Farsea Marshes
The Farsea Swamp (4e only)
Lizard Marsh
Marsember Marsh
The Mere of Dead Men
The Nameless Swamp
Spider Swamp
Stump Bog
Surmarsh
The Marsh of Tun
Umber Marshes
The Vast Swamp
Vournoth's Mire

and swamps...

Blackwater Swamp
Bloodfern Swamp
Iceclutch Swamp

There are differences between marshes and swamps (and bogs) but not all authors/cartographers in-game or real-world will care to make sure they're giving a dangerous squishy place the technically correct term.

So I got partway into reading about them and separating them, but I evidently got distracted.

Mountain ranges Does not (shouldn't anyway) include individual peaks.

I've been working on this one recently, including sorting them into cold/temperate/warm climate zones. Thus the parentheticals.

Adder Peaks (temperate)
Akanapeaks (temperate)
Mountains of the Alaoreum (temperate)

Spine of the World (cold)
Star Mounts (temperate)
Starspire Mountains (temperate)
Storm Horn Mountains (temperate)
Sunrise Mountains (temperate) - this is the one on the east border of Thay; there's another "Sunrise Mountains" northeast of Ghaethluntar on the 2e FR posters, but the FR14 map names the "Taurax Mountains" so I adopted that and didn't list two Sunrise ranges here - my in-game justification would be that the Netherese referred to the northern one as the Sunrise Mountains (believable since it was east of them, even tho it's not east of most of later Faerun)

I'm trying to highlight the definitely-volcanic peaks, so this one is in its infancy... but included because I don't think I listed them with the nonvolcanic peaks.

That's it for sharable lists. I have started lists for the other habitat categories, but just barely. Will keep working on it, and will try to keep this thread updated.

Truly awesome work xaeyruudh!

A volcano I noticed wasn't on the list is Cinderspire, at the mouth of the Valley of Khedrun. It's from Dungeon #43, "Into The Silver Realm".

Thank you xaeyruudh - you saved me a LOT of time.

To be honest, there are a couple of minor rivers/steams that didn't have names (usually due to the weirdness that was created when the maps got twisted in 3e), and moving forward I am naming them on my maps. I didn't want any redundancy. (I'm surprised - and happy - there wasn't a 'Dawnflow'). I'm hoping to have an updated version of my Shaareach map out by the end of the day. Thats one I never ever finalized (damn ADD). I found another locale for the Border Kingdoms in the GHotR and when I added it to the map, it just seemed to make sense to finish the damn thing off finally (and yes, I often update maps I have no intention of re-releasing, because I use my own maps as a resource for future maps I do).

Thanks - form all of us - for all your hard work, Xaey.

EDIT:
Eric Boyd told me that 'River' should ALWAYS come before the name in The Realms, and whenever it doesn't that was a mistake on someone's part.

From west to east (left to right), the four branches of 'The Talons' (sources) of the River Delimbiyr are Ascal's Creek, River Aulantrar, River Starsilver, and the Norlnryn.

Woohoo! Glad it helps, and for the help.

And Eric's clarification is awesome. That's a correction I'm happy to make... but it seems better to still alphabetize by the name right?

And while you're here, are you only looking for stuff in Faerun? Or everything we know on Toril?

For right now, just Faerūn.

Didn't get the map polished today - Mother's Day and all. I realized just before I went out I never labeled the waterways in Halruaa either, so thats more I have to add in the morning, and then hopefully finished.

Yes, absolutely. You can just do the ',' as in Delimbiyr, River. I guess it doesn't apply to 'creek' or 'stream' (because I think he would have mentioned that, unless it was just assumed). For now, we'll just put the 'River' first and leave the others however they were.

Sounds good.

I didn't get as much done as I wanted to either, but I wanted to get an updated list of rivers up (with your reminders about the talons, and some I was missing from FR wiki). So that's coming up momentarily.

Master xaeyruudh,

Do you know if there is a compilation of material such as rivers, has ever been created here at the 'Keep beyond this list here? I looked through Running the Realms and other places and didn't discover any.

Best regards,
