I'm trying to roleplay a character from Waterdeep circa 1455, and to do so convincingly I'd like to know as much about religion, politics and human behavior(in Waterdeep) as the average citizen would be expected to know.

But I'm not sure where to begin. Anyone got any ideas?

Your topic sounds like in-game books that somebody in Waterdeep would know about, but you're asking about game sources like City of Splendors: Waterdeep... right?

Tons of Realms novels set in Waterdeep.

It's not 1455, but Volo's Guide to Waterdeep gives the best on-the-ground feel for Waterdeep of any sourcebook.

Ask Ed. I would love to see his response...

"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is
to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious
thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed
words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn
then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they
will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding."

Also, the original Waterdeep and the North may help, as later books may leave certain things out, assuming you know them from that book. The original undermountain material would be good as well, since they tagged it onto the city

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail
