Just to let you know, a topic like this should be in the running the realms folder. Alaundo might be forgiving, but he'll have your head next time! Trust me, I've been knocked on the head three times in the last week by his Staff of the Irritated Moderator +3, and it leaves the biggest welt......

The Chosen of Vhaeraun
"Nature is governed by certain immutable rules. By virtue of claw and fang, the lion will always triumph over the goat.Given time, the pounding of the sea will wear away the stone. And when dark elves mingle with the lighter races, the offspring invariably take after the dark parent. It is all much the same. That which is greater shall prevail. Our numbers increase steadily, both through birth and conquest. The dark elves are the dominant race, so ordained by the gods." Ka'Narlist of the Ilythiiri.

Well met

Indeed youre quite right, Shadowlord....the scroll has been moved.

As to your question Elrond, I am a DM within the Realms, the party never exceeds seven (ages 20-35).... thats not to say that I wont pressgang anyone else should they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

I have also been known to wander into the mists from time to time and find myself within the Domain of Dread

my group is currently composed of 5, though that will be soon 6 when another joins.

im the DM and the party is as follows

4th level human cleric of bane
4th level human rogue
4th level human fighter
3rd level drow sorcerer
4th level elf ranger

the guy who i'm inviting in was our old DM but he went home for a while, i took over again, and we found out hes coming back and he wants to play. I use FR and 3.5e rulebooks, though i just bought the DMguide. I do however make up my own rules, since it is my own game, MWAHAHAHA

Yes

I'm interested in how a Ranger's general outlook on life allows him to travel with a Cleric of Bane. How do they settle moral issues

My group still plays 2nd ed. (something I want to change after i finish my tour in Afghanistan). I think that a group is best when there is between 3-5 players, thats when we get most efficient playtime. anyways this is us:

Naroon - 14 lev crusader of Sehanine (me)Moon elf
Zander - 10 lev mage/11 lev thief (friend)Drow
Balek - 13 Lev Genie (friend) oathbinder
Ellrin - 10 lev ranger (friend) elf

the drow is a follower of Elistraee, the genie was freed by me and the elf just hang around

I am a DM. I rarely get the chance to play, and when I do, it's not as fun.

My group is centered largely in the western Dalelands, specifically Shadowdale, Dagger Falls, and western Cormanthor (they have residences and allies in all three locales).

All you see below (except the monstrous allies) have been played by someone at some point at the gaming table. In fact, Guldraven was a character of mine for a time. Some characters were retired for a newer campaign (for example, the individual who plays Khaltarah once played Sarlonn). In all, I've had 16 different players at different times in the last six years, and I've DMed as many at nine players at once (any more than that is a headache). That's this campaign alone. I've had other gamers in other circles in different campaigns (DL and RL), but that's another story alltogether.

The Company of Grimstead
Core Group (Leaders):
-Khaltarah: LN medium male elf Wizard 19
-Aldamar: LG medium male human Cleric of Mystra 15/Spellfire Channeler 4
-Rusk: CN large (permanent enlarge person) male human Barbarian 13/Fighter 3
Secondary Members:
-Remmy: CG small male gnome Sorcerer 6/Rogue 3/Arcane Trickster 5
-Kerrick: LG medium male human Cleric of Tempus 12/Fighter 1
-Illyandra: CG medium female human Rogue 13
-Kaigen: LG medium male human Monk 6/Shintao Monk 7

NPCs/Mentors/Former Members:
-Sarlonn: NG medium male elf Wizard 16/Fighter 4/Bladesinger 6/Archmage 1
-Maeldrom Guldraven: CN medium human male Sorcerer 10/Shadow Sorcerer 12
-Lincere Sencine: LG medium male elf (ghostly - Sarlonn's "Sacred Watcher") Cleric of Mystra 18/Hierophant 3
-Ashley "Elf Friend" Aldouis Sian: CG medium male human Ranger of Mielikki 9/Dervish 5
-Lucian Naillo Nightbreeze: LN medium male half-elf Ranger 2/Rogue 3/Druid 15 of Fenmarel Menstarine
-Mac Stump: CG small male halfling Fighter 2/Rogue 12
-Tordalis (aka Willain McCanty of Auckney Manor): CG medium male human Fighter 6/Rogue 4/Duelist 10
-Silanthas: CG medium male elf ranger of Solonor Thelandira 6/Order of the Bow 6

Allies/NPCs/Mentors (Cormanthor Tower of Sorcery "The Crystal Keep"):

The Spellswords
-Kalex the Staffmaster: LN medium male elf Wizard 25/Arch Mage 3
-Dartanian: LG medium male human Cleric of Tyr 18/Divine Disciple 3/Hierophant 3
-Klipsos Goodspeed: CG medium male elf Rogue 18
-Tyresian Silverstaff: LG medium male elf Wizard 20
-Karac Silverstaff: CG medium male elf Fighter 4/Wizard 5/Bladesinger 10
-Harrish Hammerfell: NG medium male dwarf Fighter 16
-Sir Jarak Stormwind: LG medium male human Paladin of Tyr 12/Knight Protector of the Realm 4
-Tarsa: LG medium female human Paladin of Tyr 15
-Tom Strongbow: CG medium male human Ranger 14 of Mielikki

Monstrous Allies (Most are direct allies of Kalex and his Spellswords, and through them The Company of Grimstead finds sound allies.)

-Pidderton: LG large male silver dragon Wizard 12 (apprentice to Kalex)
-Frevenstronodom: LG gargantuan female ancient silver dragon
-Rudonostroum: LG huge male very old silver dragon
-Garthrond Ironhelm: CG huge male cloud giant Fighter 6
-"The King" (yes, just "The King"): CN large male quaggoth Barbarian 12/Forsaker 7
-Alumbrimbar: LG gargantuan male wyrm bronze dragon
-Orlthouthas: CG medium male elf baelnorn Wizard 10/Rogue 5/Arcane Trickster 10/Arch Mage 3

Perhaps when the "Villians" thread is created, I'll list the multiple powerful foes these heroes and allies have had to deal with in the past... and still fear will cause more strife in the future.

"That's right, hurl back views that force ye to think by name-calling - 'tis the grand old tradition, let it not down! Anything to keep from having to think, or - Mystra forfend - change thy own views!"

Narnra glowered at her father. "Just how am I to learn how to think? By being taught by you?"

"Some folk in the Realms would give their lives for the chance to learn at my feet," Elminster said mildly. "Several already have."

The campaign I am currently running is a Forgotten Realms/Planescape campaign. The cmapaign originally began in Amn, and was centered around it and Tethyr before it moved on out into the Planes. I am currently the DM of my little group. The part is called 'The Walking Dead'.

The Walking Dead - Originally the Brotherhood of Bloodied Blades

- Kharzaan "the Bloodied" (LE Male Human Fighter 19) - The original Captain of the Band of Bloodied Blade, Khazaan made a name for himself and his company fighting for Amn against the raging hordes of the Sythillisian Army; currently wanted dead or alive by seven Faerunian nations.

- Zyania Starym (CE Female Moon Elf Wizard 16/Archmage 2) - One of the original members of the Band of Bloodied Blades, Zyania is widely known to be completely insane. As much or a liability as an assent, Kharzaan has often considered killing her to save himself the agrivation she causes. A veteran of the war with the Sythillisian Army, she is currently hunted by the Cowled Wizards for "crimes against Amn". Though loather to fight with humans, she believes them to be useful panws in her ultimate goals, whatever they are.

- Drexar Skullcrusher (LE Male Duergar Fighter 11/Dwarven Defender 6) - An exile from Dunspeirrin, the City of Sunken Spires, the Blades met up with this outcast on the eastern edge of Amn and exentually adopted him into their band. Drexar is a merciless warrior who takes a delight in killing that rivals Kharzaan's. What he was exiled for and why he came to surface are several of the questions about this dwarf that leeds him to be distrusted by other members of the band.

- Nyyan, the Hidden Blade (NE Male Tieflings Rogue 13/Assassin 6) - One of the founding members of the Blades, Nyyan is perhaps the only person Karzaan trusts, if he really does trust Nyyan. Nyyan, a tiefling born in Athkatla, spent his youth as a thief and, eventually, a cutthroat. Met Kharzaan after being hired to kill him; eventually befriended him and helped to form the Blades.

- Cyrdaan (LE Male Aasimar Paladin 12/ Blackguard 7) - Once a noble paladin serving the celestial powers of the Upper Planes, Cyrdaan fell from grace after a decade fighting the fiends of the Blood War. Now a fallen paladin, Cyrdaan seeks only to kill and spread evil. Met up with Kharzaan and his band in Sigil and introduced them to the endless conflict that is the Blood War.

- The Tyrannar (LE Male Half-Elf Cleric of Bane 18) - Another of the original members of the Blades, this mysterious Hlaf-Elf claims to be of the the most faithful of Bane. Few would argue with him, as his proclivity for outright killing those who disagree with him is well-known. His real name is unknown, and he calls himelf simply "the Tyrannar".

- Jost (NE Male Rock Gnome Sorcerer 17) - This rock gnome is well known to be a bit mad, though most of the Blades are, adn quite fond of fire. Jost joined the blades shortly after their original arcane spellcaster died, and had proven an excellent addition. Jost despises Zyania, percieving her as competition. Jost looks on their jouney to the Planes as a great opportunity to increase his power, which will help him with his plans of carving out his own kingdom one day.

The Current Foes fo the Party:

- Edain Shadowstar (CG Male Eldar Elf Wizard 45/Archmage 5) - The legendary archmage returns and is having the Walking Dead hunted across the Planes. The Dead stole something valuable from the Gatekeeper's Spire, Edain's Sigilian residence, and he seeks it's return.

- Baeridex (CE Balor) - A high ranking tanar'ri and current resident of Sigil, Baeridex employed the Dead to steal something from Edain Shadowstar. Exactly what of why the Dead never found out, but when they attempted to return the item and collect their pay Baeridex tried to kill them. Now he hunts the Dead and the items they stole from Shadowstar.

- The Dread Three - A legendary band of mercenaries ansd assassins, the tree is made up of a pit fiend, a balor, and an arcanaloth, this unlikely trio is feared across the Planes. Working only for the most powerful fiendish lords, the Dread Three has been employed by an unknown force to kill the Dead and take the item they stole.

- Sir Durnal Truesteel (LN Male Human Fighter 26) - The famous Knight of Oerth and Hero of Tethyr, this warrior pursues the original Bloodied Blades for their crimes against Tethyr. Ordered to return them dead or alive, Truesteel has never failed in his mission before.

- Zydan the Just (LG Male Solar) - The father of Cyrdaan, he seeks to find his son and bring him back to Mount celestial to stand trial for his crimes (of which there are many). Though he hopes to return his son to the just path, he will not hesitate to slay him to prevent him from causing anymore harm.

Well by the Looks of it Edain has been fully utilising the Book of Vile Darkness!

My group consists of

Me:Vesz'aun Auvryath, Drow, Bladesinger 12th lvl, NE
Friend: Riklaunim Ghaun, Drow, Assassin 12th lvl, CE
Friend: Tsabrak Teken'ghym, Drow, Shadowdancer 13th lvl, Chosen of Vhaeraun, CE
Friend: Kimmuriel Oblodra, Drow, Psionicist 13th lvl, NE
Friend: Mlakymib, Illithid, Psionicist 15th lvl, NE

The campaign is currently taking place in and out of the Underdark, and Cormanthor. Our allies in Cormanthor include House Jaelre, and our allies in the Underdark include a small group of illithid from Oryndoll, and some drow of the Jaezred Chaulssin and Sshamath. There is more, but I forget the rest, and I don't want to go into detail.

"Very well, I am admittedly not as traditional in my methodology as you are. So what? The end result is all the same: target ceases to exist. If I happen to use a bit more flair, and a little less stealth to go about it, so be it. If drow were truly meant to skulk within the shadows, we'd not have stark white hair, now would we? Long gone are my days of creeping in the shadows and hiding in wait. Those means are for beings of a cowardly bent. We Bladesingers are risen above such dribble. So saying, it is boldly into the fray I shall go; if I should come to meet my maker, I will at least have done so with a sense of pride and dignity that your ilk will never truly understand. Now go back to hiding in your dark recesses, pathetic mewling...."~Vesz'aun Auvryath

Looking at you characters Races, Veszaun Auvryath, I presume that you are involved in an Underdark Campaign. If so how are you enjoying it? I've never run one of these, but I've thought of perhaps running one.

Running an Underdark campaign is suprisingly similar to normal campaigns, except that it is paramount the the inherent "evil" of the Underdark comes into play. Just getting the attitude is half the fun! You can't have a group of mind flayers that say "Hello little drowling. Nice weather we are having. How are you?" It just doesn't make for a good Underdark campaign. All in all, I would reccommend that you try one sometime, as it can be loads of fun if set up correctly.

Nope. He survived, and at the end in the Servant of the Shard Jarlaxle hands Bregan D'Aerthe over to him.

I know about the name, but that's who my friend wanted to be, so yeah......

I'M REALLY EXCITED!
We've got a good group of people together in my area for a f2f campaign set in Damara, DR 1360, right after the fall of the Witch King. It's the first time most of us have played in 10 years, so all the 3rd ex. stuff is new to us. All characters are starting off at 1st level
I'm the DM. Characters include:
A half elf ranger/refugee from Goliad
A human rogue in the employ of baron Zorth of Polten
A half orc barbarian raised in the Nar tradition
A human cleric of Ilmater
A halfling enchantress
A human Paladin

I can't wait to get started. It looks like a really good group. More to follow, with some interesting questions and quardaries sure to come...

Good luck. My group is a trio. I run one character while I DM (I lknow you're not supposed to but I am because our group is small and they don't want to rp more than one person each.)

Group:
Human Psychic Warrior
Dwarf Fighter/Cleric
Dwarf Druid (ME)

I know Dwarven Druids are rare but I have one.

May Melkor smile upon every spell you cast.
