Well considering TSR sold computer rights years ago, hard to understand how Hasbro even had a valid complaint.
Of course I suspect terms of settlement are NDA. |

I think in house games would be developed better. Wizards needs their own game developer, and could easily pick out up with some capital investment. Neverwinter is going to be bad just like Storm Reach was. Considering rights issues, who holds the rights to develop on screen forgotten realms content? I while back I know the japaneese company that made an Anime out of Witchblade wanted to pick up a forgotten realms license, but there were issues with some old comic company owning the rights to the Drizzt line. Its sad the closest thing we have now is unforgotten realms, which is a web series spoof on the realms. |

Greater inter-connectivity and keeping a FIRM hand on the IP is something they have needed for a long time - one of the biggest complaints amongst the fan/grognards is the amount of conflicting lore (and apocryphal). Lets just hope it isn't too little, too late.
On the other hand, it seems that Hasbro/Wizards are still floundering as to what exactly do with the IP - they seem to be taking lots of 'shots', hoping for 'a hit'.
They should just turn FR into a damn cartoon and be done with it - its one of the few side-venues that Hasbro has been highly successful in.
And c'mon... how much would we ALL love that? |

Instead of "Dungeon Master" and "Uni" we would get a caricature of Elminster and a cute sparkly tressym kitty?
And instead of "Venger" we might get a vampiric Lord Manshoon?
I... uhm... oh heck, I have to be honest... I actually would watch that. DANGIT!

"The very best possible post-fourteenth-century Realms lets down those who love the specific, detailed social, political and magical situation, with its thousands of characters, developed over forty years, and want to learn more about it; and those who'd be open to a new one with equal depth, which there just isn't time to re-produce; and those repelled, some past the point of no return, by the bad-taste-and-plausibility gap of things done to the world when its guardianship was less careful." --Faraer |

That actually doesn't sound all that bad.
Though I'm a sucker for just about everything-Manshoon, so... [Yes, I know, it's a bad play on words.] |

Mitsukake as the thief? Most of those were odd choices, but that was really out there.
I still need to get my wife to watch Fushigi Yuugi. I think she'd enjoy it. |

Elminster anime sounds horrible. Nowhere near as cool as 3E. |
