I'm looking for any lore on these creatures, besides what's in the Eberron books. Any of those Dragon/DDI articles out there? I know Wooly mentioned some homebrew. I'd love to hear it. Also, Dopplegangers. Any obscure lore out there? I've got the Goodman Games book. Anything canon? Where?

Well, for homebrew, you just make them the offspring of half-doppelgangers, or any other convenient shape-changing critter. As long as you're not making nations or large communities of them, it's easy enough to drop in a few here and there. |

Thanks Wooly, that was fast! Yeah, I just dropped a few in w/o much thought to backstory they're pretty easy. I thought you might've come up with something.

How is the Goodman Games Complete Guide to Dopplegangers? Worth buying?
I found the Complete Guide to Rakshasas was good but not really all that useful (for my needs), it seems like a fair amount of the fluff is Goodman-contrived only to fit the new powers/classes crunched into the book. Only six bucks, but I think I coulda fared well enough without it (and purchased some other book instead). |

About the same as Rakshasas. Not nearly as good as Wererats, I thought. Got some decent telepathhic stuff, and mimics too.The artwork leaves a little to be desired. And of course no mention of Illithids. |

Nah, with shifters and changelings, there's little that needs to change to drop them into the Realms. I'm not belittling the races; I like them and will happily use them. I just think no need for any kind of elaborate backstory with them.
That other Eber-whatsit race.. Kalashtar. They have, oddly, just not interested me at all. I'm not familiar enough with them to put forth any ideas on how to port them to the Realms. I've got enough Eber-whatsit material to get that familiarity, I just haven't taken the time to do so.
No, the Eber-whatsit race that I like is the warforged, and those are the ones I'm coming up with backstories for. I've got three different versions planned out. One is totally written up, one just lacks a final pass, and the last is fully planned-put but still in progress. I've got a week off at the end of the month; I hope to finish those guys soon. |

I have (well, some of my players have) some Eberron books ... I can't say I much like the setting as a whole - just another somewhat generic arbitrarily good-vs-evil fantasyland, "here there be dragons" and all that - but there are a lot of elements that make fine additions to a Realms campaign, I feel. The simpleminded and provincial folk of Eberron don't often spelljammer or planewalk into the rich complexities of Faerūn, so I'm sure they won't mind me stealing some of their more interesting props and setting elements. |

Hot veneficent spider babe vs beastial man-scorpion of destruction. They both have a certain allure, though I'll admit the latter seems much less compatible with my views of the drow, more suitable for daemonfey perhaps. |

That, or simply make them serve as "lesser" agents of the Unseen in Skullport. |

Would a Changeling be able to be able to impersonate non-human creatures such as paka (cat-people) or the hybrid version of various werebeasts? Shapeshifters masquerading as shapeshifters has a certain je ne sais quoi. |

Doppegangers are an evolutionary offshot of the Batrachi, the Amphibian Creator Race.
Nadezhda was the Batrachi Empire of the Doppelgangers during the Days of Thunder.
In 4e Changelings and Doppelgangers where the same race, this may have changed agian in 5e.
I'd use Changelings in simular ways to how one uses Doppelgangers, except Changelings can't read minds and look more human like in form in thier natural form. |
