Yea, I messaged Sage about it on Facebook and he replied that it was fixed......

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Indeed.

I think it was a similar occurrence to what happened back on the 23rd. I can't see any problems at this end.

Hmm, I'm getting a lot of ASP error today. Anyone else "enjoy" the same?

Not today, but a couple days ago the site was again inaccessible...

Well met

Apologies for the inconvenience, my fellow scribes. Alas, these things do happen on occassion; but there's nothing we can do at the moment as it is beyond our control. Candlekeep is hosted on a shared server so there may be times when other sites bring a server down or a server has to be taken down for maintenance etc.

The site was inaccessible again for about 24 hours.

Other than here in CK, I'm an active member in more than a dozen forums. The last time I checked, they're working fine. Is CK facing some kind of "special" problem?

I don't think so. As far as I know, this is still largely a non-Candlekeep related problem with the shared server.

I, too, was unable to get to the site for over 24 hours. Thinks I Big Al needs to open a trouble ticket with the host -- it's ridiculous to pay for them to host a site, and then they fail to keep it accessible.

I was just able to get back on. Does anyone happen to know what exactly the issues are here? I'm rather curious to find out.

The site was inaccessible again for nearly half of the day. Unlike before where there's an error message, this time it was just blank page. What happened?

Again, as near as I can tell, there's nothing wrong on our end here at Candlekeep. This is yet another ISP issue.

I was under the impression the site was hosted for no fee.
If paying for it, indeed it appears time to get another host.

Sometimes it could be router, however the reports are coming from many locations.
The server appears more likely. *shrugs*

Really? That's strange, because I haven't encountered any problems for the last twenty-four hours.

It went down sometime after 2PM Eastern, and was still down at 7PM Eastern.

Okay, that's weird, because I checked in three times during those periods, and the site loaded rather well from my end. And actually quite fast, in fact. Which I thought was strange, in and of itself.

Well met

Yes, the forum was down for considerable time on Tuesday due to a fault at the host. The main Candlekeep site was functioning as normal however.

Candlekeep will be moving web hosts in January next year. As part of this move, we will also be moving to another forum software as part of Candlekeep v2, which should eliminate any downtimes that we've been often experiencing.

Please bear with us, whilst we frantically work on the next release of Candlekeep.

Probably a problem on your end. I visited Candlekeep repeatedly yesterday (which was sooooo sloooooow), and never had any trouble with it.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

Well met

I'm about to run a post recount on the tables, which can be quite intensive; so ye may expect some slow responses over the next couple of hours. I have been running some maintenance tasks over the past week, which may also explain response times.

Still, it's all for the greater good in preparation for Candlekeep v2

The post recount is largely meant for realigning the existing registry of scrolls which display out-of-sequence page numbers when compared to the actual number of posts contained in those scrolls.

The recount ensures that scrolls with out-of-sequence pages, again reflect the proper number of posts contained within each scroll.

In other words, it shouldn't affect a scribe's existing post count.

I couldn't access the forums earlier, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Manila Time. And from 1:00 PM to around 2:30 PM, it would take a minute or two for any new posts to show---slow as snail.

Yes.

I'm not sure whether Alaundo will know more, but from what I've gathered, the outage was the result of server maintenance on the ISP.
