Does it involve the Sage's gremlins?

Seriously though, I suspect it was problems with the host.

It was prolly the latter, as you say... But do gremlins ever sleep?

AFAIK, they don't at all.

Probably. I'd imagine they descend on the web host like the Uruk-Hai on Helm's Deep in The Two Towers.

I've got another problem. Often, I'm not able to post - that is, page does not load at all, no error messages or anything. Sometime it persists for half a day...

Again, the site was inaccessible for more than 24 hours. Is this a sign CK 2.0 is nearly done?

I'm not sure what caused the latest outage [and all my gremlins were safely stored away], but I suspect it was an external fault with the ISP, rather than a site problem.

As I recall, the same thing happened last year, whereupon Candlekeep was unavailable for almost an entire day. Alaundo later noted that the fault lay with major disruptions at the service supplier end. This recent bout, may simply be another such circumstance.

About 18 hours, by my reckoning. I was able to access the site until about 1 PM yesterday, and then it came back this morn at roughly 6:30 AM.

Most likely right. I mistakenly included the hours I slept (by which point I couldn't try to access the site, could I?)

Here's the error message I got when I tried to reload Candlekeep yesterday:

The request cannot be processed at this time. The amount of traffic exceeds the Web site's configured capacity.

-Yeah, I had no luck accessing the site basically all day yesterday. Tried around noon, and it wasn't loading. Came home from work, and tried around 11 PM, and got the above error message.

Ditto. It was up at 1PM Eastern, but then I wasn't able to get in again until early this morn.

Yea, I messaged Sage about it on Facebook and he replied that it was fixed......

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Indeed.

I think it was a similar occurrence to what happened back on the 23rd. I can't see any problems at this end.

Well met

Apologies for the inconvenience, my fellow scribes. Alas, these things do happen on occassion; but there's nothing we can do at the moment as it is beyond our control. Candlekeep is hosted on a shared server so there may be times when other sites bring a server down or a server has to be taken down for maintenance etc.

The site was inaccessible again for about 24 hours.

Other than here in CK, I'm an active member in more than a dozen forums. The last time I checked, they're working fine. Is CK facing some kind of "special" problem?

I don't think so. As far as I know, this is still largely a non-Candlekeep related problem with the shared server.

I, too, was unable to get to the site for over 24 hours. Thinks I Big Al needs to open a trouble ticket with the host -- it's ridiculous to pay for them to host a site, and then they fail to keep it accessible.

I was just able to get back on. Does anyone happen to know what exactly the issues are here? I'm rather curious to find out.
