i got a question about how to run an encounter

the group i'm in is thinking about setting up a campaign which runs in a enviroment around skyships and Netheril-qse flying cities (Haluraa is much more similar to old Netheril in appearence and have figured out how to make flying cities again alas on a much smaller scale) and generally flying combat (either by flying mounts of one type or another or the spell fly)... problem is that none of us is completely sure about how it's most practical to run it since the rules in DMG about how combat in 3 dimentions, along others how combat between different sizes should be done ...

Anyone got suggestions about how to jump it so its doable?

what happened to the queen? she's much more hysterical than usual
She's a women, it happens once a month

Take a look in the "Shadowdale - Scouring of the land". There´s a encounter with Scyllua and his nightmare that show good ways of run a sky battle encounter.

Her nightmare.
