Posted - 28 Apr 2006 : 07:08:00 As I recall... a scribe asked last week about the possibility of 2006 being WotC's/D&D's Year of the Dragon.
With the release of the details regarding Monster Manual IV... it's an almost certain bet what creature type will feature prominently in the tome:- http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/953767200

Posted - 28 Apr 2006 : 08:28:32 I hadn't seen the cover until now, but it seems to be a big push that 2006 is The Year of the Dragon (WOTC had a huge advertising page for it before they started marketing DreamBlade. Between Races of the Dragon, Dragondown Grotto, Dragons of Faerum, MM IV, Dragons of the Dwarven Depths, Dragons: Worlds Afire, Trail of the Black Wyrm, Voyage of the Golden Dragon, and War of the Dragon Queen Miniatures (not the mention that Year of the Dragon brochure), it seems pretty clear that they are pushing dragons pretty hard this year. I am not in the marketing department, but I'd guess that it has something to do with wanting to emphasize the roots of the game as being Dungeons (hence the inclusion of a lot more adventures recently) & Dragons (hence all of the products about dragons). With the industry doom and gloom, it might be a good idea to remind people of what the game is all about at its core. |
