Hi folks!

Have you read the Daggerdale Campaign Expansion, produced for the Daggerdale Project? Have you heard about the Northern Realms Projects Group?

If you have, maybe you know the status of the above project groups. Are they still active? Are there other groups, developing Daggerdale? Lately, I have been elaborating Daggerdale by myself, but I will spend some time looking at their work.

By the way, I would like to get in contact with other DMs that are developing their home campaigns. Maybe, it is possible to help each other ...

Best regards,
Manuel

The bulk of our material was submitted by the Northern Journeys Project Group, who had developed the area as part of their epic campaign. I and some other people contributed smaller portions, and I hosted it all on my webpage along with the Errata Project and my own mapping efforts. I later added the material from the Arylon Project, so that it wouldn't disappear from the internet.

All of this was done as fans and amateurs. No one has received any money from it. It was just a way to share our work with other fans. On that basis, I will accept any material that anyone would like to submit for the website and place it there for download. I would also like to link to anyone who has created material for their own website (including the two pages NeuronPhaser posted above). If you have such links, please share them. You post them here, or send me an email at admin@wandering-dwarf.com.

All the work of the Daggerdale Project was intended to be used and shared. The only requests I would make are that people not simply republish an entire work on their website, always give proper credit to the original authors for the bits you use on your website, and include with your hat tip a link back to the Project webpage.

Thanks!

That makes complete sense! Thank you for the history on the project.

In light of that, I won't publish anything on the Guild site that reprints the material, but instead work towards expanding my own, original material. It's such a great setting, and I truly appreciate the work you and others have done to make it so!

Would love to see what you have. It's been ages since I added new material to the page, and it could stand to be updated.

For my home campaign, I basically just ripped every last bit of text I could from every official source (up to 3e FRCS, and rolling back to just before the Sword of the Dales trilogy) and created a campaign setting guide for the Daggerdale region, a guide to Dagger Falls, added hexes to the Daggerdale project map of the region, and finally, updated the major villains -- the Zhents, Colderan from Doom of Daggerdale, and Gothyl -- to 5E rules, adding significant forces to both Colderan and Gothyl to make them a better long-term threat for a campaign.

I guess where I'm at now is this:

dmsguild.com allows for the publishing of FR-specific content. I'd love to revise what I pulled together into a short (20-30 page?) campaign guide to the Daggerdale region circa 1368-ish DR.

You can get a very good feel for what would be in there from my two posts of turning the 2e-era adventures into a sandbox campaign:

http://www.neuronphaser.com/dungeons-dragons-5e-the-daggerdale-campaign-sandbox/

http://www.neuronphaser.com/dungeons-dragons-5e-the-daggerdale-campaign-threats/

Enough of this could pull ideas and/or maps from the Daggerdale project that I couldn't publish this without proper consent, credit, and/or perhaps monetary gain on your end. Not having that, I'd revise it to be much more focused on the existing 2e adventures.

I don't if you're interested in any part of that, but that's where I am. Feel free to private message me or email me at tjbannock(AT)gmail(DOT)com if you'd like to talk more privately about it, otherwise, I'm subscribed to this thread ;-)

RESURRECTION!

Does anyone know if the Daggerdale Project's creator/webguy are still active anywhere, and perhaps how to contact them?

I've written a bunch of Daggerdale stuff based on the project, and have enough to publish a bunch on the new DMs Guild site, but I can't in good conscience do so without the help and/or blessing of the fine people behind the Daggerdale Project, because so much of that work informed mine.

It'd be great to hear from them! Any help at all would be appreciated.

Hi Griselame,

Have you taken a look at my homepage? Unfortunalety, it is a mix of Swedish and English. However, I am translating it to English

http://user.tninet.se/~bsu242v/

Your writeups, are they in English? If so, I would like to take a look. Could you please e-mail them to me?

Best regards,
Manuel (webmanus)

Hi pals,

I wrote my own background for Daggerdale , according to the few informations we have in the FRCS book . Also some good stuffs of course are the old books for AD&D concerning the Dales . The Volo's guide is excellent and I hotly recommend it if you haven't read it yet....

But talking about my writings , I wrote somethin' about Dagger Falls , Anathar's Dell , created a mercenary company and some vilains that haunt the Dagger Hills , as well as a magic guild , used a french-created generic background book and mixed it with Realms events (ex : some Antic-like ruins that served as a basis for old Netheril ones , and then created a story including the Shades) , etc....I also wrote some stuff and drawed plans for the Constable Tower....

All this stuff is used in a 1372/1373 background ...

So if there's somebody interested , or who haves some interesting stuff , feel free to write !

Hi,

Posting my maps, well, I need a scanner, or at least get in contact with a scanner. Everything I have made, regarding maps, is old fashion style penn and paper. I will see what I can do ...

Yes, you found the book. I did really like the simple idea of taking a part of some country, and then elaborate it:

"The local campaign area is the province, barony, county, or district in which the campaign is set."

And, also:

"An area about 40 to 50 miles across will be more than sufficient."

I guess, that the idea of creating zones, regions, or areas, is seen in the FRCS, World-Building in page 298 - 299.

But then, maybe, we should have this "conversation" in another post ... so we let this post focus in "Daggerdale Campaigns and Projects". Maybe, a new post is needed ... "Dalelands Campaigns and Projects".

Link to my homepage:

And, a link to the part about Mistledale:

Best regards,

lol, i´ve seen your webpage yesterday when i did a googel search!

what interests me most are your writings about geography and the npc section:
http://user.tninet.se/~bsu242v/realmslore/regions/dalelands/mistledale/geografi.htm and
http://user.tninet.se/~bsu242v/realmslore/regions/dalelands/mistledale/appendix.htm

do you know a german (or english) to swedish online translator? that would keep my questions to a minimum.

tauster Posted - 30 Apr 2005 : 09:16:23
i´d very much like to see your writeup, too bad i can not read swedish! could you perhaps post your maps? i think swedish maps are not very different from english (or german) ones...

this "local area"- concept sounds interesting!

OK, thanks. I got an answer from Erskine Fincher, from the Daggerdale Project. The project is mostly dead ...

Mistledale, there was a very beatiful site there, among the links.

I have a Mistledale Word document that I wrote, some years ago. However, it is in Swedish. Still, in the document I elaborated the "army" of Mistledale, I divided the Dale into four districts, and decided that there would be 779 farmsteads, 167 thorps, 23 hamlets, 6 villages, and the small town of Ashabenford in Mistledale. I made also up some communities, and made several maps.
I have for long time used the concept of Local Area (LA, 40 x 50 miles) from World Builder's Guide when elaborating campaign areas. Thus, Mistledale would be one LA bug. But, this should maybe go into another post, kind of an Elaborating a Local Area post.

...a couple of websites on the dales i bookmarked, perhaps some are useful for you:

maps of many cities & towns of faerun, and a series of detailed maps of the anauroch (possibily from the 2e accessory with the same name) : http://www.angelfire.com/md2/Strongfist1/

the complete book website of dwarves:
http://www.farlandcampaign.homestead.com/dwarves.html

...the name says all: http://mistledale.net/

another mistledale campaign: http://hem.passagen.se/faerun/

Daggerdale Campaign Expansion, probably the site you referred to:
http://www.nettally.com/fincher1/nj.html

a zhentarim campaign, some "dalelandish" infos can be found there (besides, i like the overall webpage-design )http://home.cfl.rr.com/greyghostrecon/

i am dm'ing a campaign in mistledale, so we´re sort of "neighbours". when i have more time (i.e. sometime after my final examn next week), i could write a bit about what i changed and added to the dales.
i am particularly interested in what you do with the dwarven population in and around the dales (anathars dell, tethyamar, etc...), as this is one important aspect in my campaign.
