The second Candlekeep virtual seminar is up for registration. Come one, come all to hear from mighty loremasters of the Realms. And me.

My twitch account is all janked up so I couldn't ask any questions, but I would have loved to hear more from Elaine on Liriel and maybe how to "elf" things up like she does with her writing.

The "Fire the Canons" seminar was conducted via Zoom, not Twitch. I'm not sure how that translates to now being accessible to individuals who are interested in what was said.

Just found the reference to the Green Island dragonwar in Elfshadow i assume this is the same one Eric just linked with Jharakkan's Talon.

Interestingly there was a separate tale about the Birth of the Sea Elves involving Umberlee appearing in a storm with her white hair lashing like lightning. Made me think of a white kraken rising out of the ocean with its white tentacles whipping in the wind to sink the elven ships. How did that give rise to the birth of the sea elves i wonder, did it take them as slaves and they slowly transformed.

The Candlekeep Presents seminar was also great. I had never heard Elaine's voice before, so finally getting to "meet" her was awesome.

You can watch it all on Brian’s Twitch and I think Jeff Thetford is going to put it up on YouTube.

I lost internet about halfway through the Nine seminar. I really hope it was recorded, if not does somebody have any notes I could borrow, the last ones I got were that sylune could inhabit the bodies of the recently deceased and terrified many a family with it.

Ed Greenwood, trying to burn all of R.A. Salvatore's WOTC bridges in one go:

Bob: [exiting after being informed of the 4E Realms] "So I looked at Ed and said, 'we're gonna think long-term, because when this fails and they come back to us to fix it, we'll be ready'....back me up Ed, I'm out on a limb here"

Ed: "Yeah, Bob looked at me and said, 'WE'RE GONNA SHOW THOSE BASTARDS'"

Bob: "....those were not the words I used, Ed"

I'm still laughing at that

Gary Dallison Posted - 01 Aug 2020 : 20:02:55
Ooh yes, specialised by region or organisation or migration patterns or perhaps even big baddies.

I will of course attend all of them if the wife let's me
George Krashos Posted - 01 Aug 2020 : 19:34:00
Glad you enjoyed it. We are talking about doing more of these with likely more specialised topics and canvassing the fans as to what they want to talk about. We'll see.

I really enjoyed the seminar.

Thankee; 'tis appreciated.
Gary Dallison Posted - 01 Aug 2020 : 16:46:29
Of course, i'll assume George/Eric are okay with me sharing it as George knows i catalogue absolutely everything i can find and there are 30 other people that now know of it.

889 DR: Year of the Shining Shield: The King-Killer Star is seen in the skies above Evermeet. Soon thereafter, the Green Isle comes under attack by a Flight of Dragons drawn to the elven island realm by false whispers that Xenophor Moonflower has recovered Jharakkan's Talon during his battle with Ualintharghar and brought it back to Evermeet.

Can you share that bit? I forgot to copy it before it was too late.
Gary Dallison Posted - 01 Aug 2020 : 10:25:13
Well its 6 hours after this seminar (10 am in england), and that was a great first experience. I'd happily do one of those every week.

It's nice to be talking with people who share the same interest and not having to feel embarrassed about it.

My sob story: I had a ticket for this event and then returned it earlier today after my Saturday D&D game was moved to tonight. “At least I can attend the Saturday Candlekeep event,” I thought. Then my D&D game got moved back to Saturday, and of course some lucky person has already grabbed my ticket for tonight. Now I can’t go to either!!!

Beshaba’s had a hand in this, I’m sure. Hope they pop up on YouTube or something.

Brian said they couldn't put it on YouTube, because they would have had to get everyone's explicit approval to record it.

I haven't received any new emails from GenCon. I did find this on the website that may help:

Has there been any further communication on this? I've not seen any invites or meeting links or anything, and I want to make sure I've not missed an email.

Okay. If you say so. Maybe we will all game and leave you out. lol.

And BTW... FR lore is jaded and worse than a rough trick named Jim. lol.

Lore is resplendent among the realms in general. Deities die and are resurrected on a yearly basis. The designers cannot seem to get their lore straight. Evermeet; Island of Elves pretty much declared how the different sub-races of elves and gnomes and dwarves entered Faerun over -30,000 years ago. That lore is to the tooth. But designers have found a way to incorporate new history amongst the ancient history with every new edition of D&D.

So yes, let's bring the lore. I for one will bore you with ancient elven kingdoms.

I signed up, along with three friends of mine. All of us are bringing our mid-level PC's to game with. I'm excited! When joining the Lore seminars I will ask a thousand Ahmaquissar questions indeed.

To play I'm bringing Trysiifith Oumryn: CN Gold elf male of Narbeth, (Shalhoond). CR 25; Rogue 5/ Cleric 5/ Fortune's Friend 5/ Sacred Fist 10 of Erevan Ilesere. Co-founder and Guildmaster of the Daggerford Rogues of the Laughing Midnight. Exiled King of The Great Wild Wood in the extreme edge of eastern Faerűn. "The Mongoose Prince" of Court Oumryn. Master of Fist, Foot, Elbow, Knee and Spell.

I also have a 4ED and 5ED version of this PC to make sure I get into a game. lol.

The ID wasn't working for me, I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I hope there's a recording of the event up for us all to watch after.

Not to worry, Eric. You won't have to be on Twitch for either one.

Details to follow.

For everyone still having trouble finding the Fire the Canon! workshop, it's at https://www.gencon.com/events/188928 . You will need a (free) Gen Con badge in order to sign up, and for this event, you must be registered to attend.
keftiu Posted - 22 Jul 2020 : 02:28:28
Any chance these will be recorded?

Go here:https://www.gencon.com

Register if you haven't already and then do an event search for "Candlekeep". This seminar (Friday night Indianapolis time) is over Zoom (so you'll need that platform) and the other seminar (Saturday night Indianapolis time) will be on Twitch (so you'll need that platform as well). The event entries on the Gen Con site tell you how many tickets are left.

Why not a seminar of proposed ways to collectively write the next realms novel?

An average book of 300 pages is available from Wasteland Press for $500.00. And they edit for you with your help unlike some publishing companies. I have already published 2 books of ludicrous poetry, and my wife has written 2 novellas under Wasteland Press.com

Why can't this seminar pool in together and write the next FR novel? Maps are boring unless you're a Topographer. lol.

Because it could only be published with WotC's approval and they're not going to do it.

I would hope they would have a table with a DM ready to play an epic game. Characters below 18'th level are post pasee to me and any of my gaming group I may bring. Although we all have lesser PC's to boot.

When I play Curudin Ahmaquissar, I think.... bring me all the hells you have! The Abyss is like Skullport to me... quick and easy. I've seen Phaerimm rise and fall. I've seen Daemonfey rise and fall. What's next? I'm ready, solo if I have to. I was there when the Coronal defended Myth Drannor against the Shadovar. I was there when the city fell.
