Okay, I can't seem to get this right in my head. At all. I've read it and re-read it. Best I can work out is that Queen Anais' half-sister Evonne did some weird necromantic research that allowed her to take over the body of her own daughter Ysabel. To make herself heir to the throne of Tethyr, she staged her own death, engineered the death of her sister's children and one of her own (a boy) and it looks like she used the Branch of Linden to do it - manipulating them to do the deed dressed as elves so as to satisfy their aim to cause division between the Fair Folk and humans of Tethyr.

Chult is woven through this too. In a very difficult to understand manner.

There is supporting information to an extent in the FR 4E Campaign Book - but on a very perfunctory basis.

For anyone who has read the book and purports to understand it, I would love to hear what you made of it.
