Hey guys, where can I find any maps, details ect ect on the temple of Pelor in Peldan's Helm (Mistledale)?

I know nothing about this place, so any info regarding it would be great.

thanks in advance!

My thought exactly. Pelor is not a Faerunian deity, closest analougue would be Aumanator or Lathander. Has to be an error.

Whatever they're paying you at Candlekeep, they should double it! ;) If they're not paying you anything, congratulations on your raise!

The village itself is canon. That map is not. Its made in the style of the old FRIA maps, which lead me to believe it was one, but no such map exists in that product (Peldan's Helm does appear on the map of Mistledale, but its not hot-linked). There are some maps in that product which aren't hot-linked for whatever reason, but that isn't one. Someone must have done that with an older copy of Campaign Cartographer (which is what was used in the FRIA product.

My best guess is that someone was using the FR maps for their campaign, but not using the lore, and was just using the pantheon right out of the 3e Player's Guide.

What makes me think this? Thats how Kord got into my Realms. My son made a cleric of Kord right of the manual. It took a long time making his character and really wanted everything perfect, and when i looked at what he had done I tried to tell him Kord was out... but he wasn't having any of that.

So yeah - someone was using the 3e core books with FR geography is all. Nice map, though. We do have a canon picture of a priest of Pelor in the Realms on pg.64 of the GHotR. Personally I just say Pelor and Lathander (and Apollo) are the same guy, and those are just different names they use on different worlds (just like I think Amaunator is the same as Ra and Helios). Since there is some interaction between FR and GH, I could easily see how some of the other's symbols and even name were adopted in remote areas (like Peldan's Helm).

I think the description you quoted contains a hint to the right answer:

Pelor is not a god of the realms to my knowledge (or in my edition) but there is clearly a temple to the god in Peldan's Helm in that map. (iv been looking at the same map you found in that link). im not sure if this is a homemade map either. I didn't want to just overwrite the temple on the off chance there was some cannon history behind it. So yea. Can I scrap the thing and turn it into a temple of helm or something? whats the deal here. Volos guide only has a small bit about the village...

Peldan#146;s Helm
This forester#146;s town of 80-odd folk is
home to many rangers, hunters, and
woodcutters. It stands as a refuge to all
in Beast Country, the perilous western
end of Mistledale. The Helm began as
the freehold of a retired Cormyrean soldier,
Peldan Faern. He chose this spot as
his own by driving upright the twohanded
sword he had borne in battle
into the ground and claiming all the
land in sight of his helm, which he had
placed atop the sword. Everyone in the
Helm claims descent from Peldan now.
His helm and sword hang in the rafters
of the local meeting hall, which is used
at various times for freevote meetings on
matters of importance, militia patrol
assemblies, and worship services for all
woodland and good-aligned faiths.
Peldan#146;s Helm does not present many
sites of interest to see: Citizens live in
stone cottages surrounded by high, stout
stone walls and emerge in large, wellarmed
bands to plow fields or go into the
woods after game or trees to fell. Carving
and furnituremaking is done inside the
walled yards of the cottages, and strangers
are only encouraged to enter if they have
business with the folk within.
ence in monster-slaying and in hopes
they will be among the lucky few to actually
find treasure hereabout. Mistshrouded
western Mistledale reveals the
past more than elsewhere, since farmers
to plow the stone relics of old holding
walls or the bones of ancient battles away
are fewer. The Dale has often been the
site of pitched battles over the years,
since it is one of the few places in the
Dales where armies (especially cavalry)
can assemble in large formations without
being hemmed in by trees where
archers can harass them from concealment.
As a result, battle spoil left behind
when priests and wizards used earthtwisting
spells to bury foes alive or
embattled forces buried the fallen in
hasty mass graves without stripping bodies
for valuables is plentiful. Every spring
plowing turns up something of interest
and sometimes something of great
valuefrom items of powerful slaying
magic to suits of armor or gems and
coins seldom seen today.
Places of Interest in Peldan#146;s Helm
Inn & Tavern
The Man With Fire in His Hands
Despite the Helm#146;s wary nature, many
adventurers and game hunters from Cormyr
and Sembia seeking wall trophies
come here and are welcomed: Every
monster slain is one less to menace the
folk who spend their lives here. These
courageous, hard-working folk are still
unable to even stroll in the woods with a
loved one without sword in hand and a
horn at their belts ready to cry alarm if
they are beset by danger too great to overcome
or flee from.
The Helm offers citizens and visitors alike
just one place to gather, drink, dine, and
sleep: the Man With Fire in His Hands.
The name of this house commemorates a
local (and long-dead) fire-hurling wizard,
Murgar. His striking portrait over the bar,
in which he is depicted hurling fireballs
in all directions, is the only interesting
thing in this very average and adequate
roadhouse.

I had that question as well, however did find the above link map (Which might be home game map, there was another map that appeared smaller in content and both appear to claim to be in the Dales). It clearly appears that Peldan's Helm exists even if there is no temple to Pelor. *shrugs*
