Ahoy and Well Met! I am no lurker but have been a fan of the Realms for nigh-on 30 years now--since I was a young lad rolling up my first character in my friends sweltering garage (at the time (an where I was, I suppose)D&D wasn't a commonly accepted enterprise for youngsters). However, as I grow greyer in tooth and longer in beard (or the other way around), I look back on those early years with increasing fondness and nostalgia. I have played since (well, DMed) and read numerous Realms novels, but it is my early formative experience I hold most dear. Now I am teaching my own lad how to play.

As I look through some of the forum here I see that you all have a tremendous working knowledge of the Realms and Realms lore. I am truly impressed! I look forward to learning what I can and perhaps even contributing some as well.

Sounds like our early experiences were similar, though I wasn't usually in a garage. Maybe that's where I went wrong... is a garage D&D group anything like a garage band? Money, fame, cars?

It was very much like a garage band; half a dozen awkward and sweaty adolescents confined to a small corner of a garage, playing for their own entertainment and terrified that someone might actually hear them.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
