I mean it seems they are hardly mentioned , and I think never used in a book , but where did volodinis come from, and anything ever use them for lore?

I got the impression that the early 3e FR material was being used as a springboard for players to experiment with new PC races.

I think the lack of knowing, is causing a confusion of what folks are saying.

I saw the bit now as unapprochable east, seems to be a minor creation, for someones game table or general lore, and was added in just for increasing the potential of rp.

???

The volodni are human shaped plants, the voadkyn are giants that live in forests ... i fail to see the overlap aside from living in forests, but that doesn't seem too big of an overlap to me.

I don't know where you're getting Ao from sfdragon.

Volodni weren't around before 3rd edition. They were Nar refugees fleeing the conflict right before the end of the Narfell/Raumathar war. Trying to take refuge in an ancient forest, they were instructed by some spirit of the forest, *perhaps* Silvanus himself, to give up their demoniac ways and 'agree to take the forest's blood for their own' or to find another place to hide.

yeah they were the last survivors of some ancient kingdom that fell out of favor with AO..... and was crushed into war with its neighbors.

and Silvanus changed them from human to the swamp things they are today.

They are detailed in Unapproachable East; I do not know if they are in Spellbound.

Sadly, it doesn't even give a source... They seem familiar, though, perhaps in Spellbound?

It appears the word does not exist.
