years ago I had compiled an outline of each and every canon instance of the Bloodstone Lands/Cold Lands in all Forgotten Realms products from 1987-present

it took me a couple of years to compile, and the idea was to make an online PDF 3rd edition sourcebook in the same vein as the official Mysteries of the Moonsea, Cormyr, Waterdeep, etc for the Cold Lands region. I ended up with over 100 microsoft word pages in the outline (over 1MB text only lol).

of course then we had the 100-year Flash Forward, and i lost the heart to continue

I don't know what WotC has in store for 5e Forgotten Realms ... but with the pre-spellplague interest still being so high on most forgotten realms websites I have the interest again in completing what I started

anyways, i have writing background and have the research completed, what i dont have is ANY mapping/photoshop/artistic skills and was wondering if anyone here is both interested in this region and can add those extra skills and even help with the rest of the project

we can collaborate the PDF over the cloud, preferably google drive

the areas in my canon outline are Damara, Vaasa, The Galenas, The Great Glacier, Narfell, Sossal, and the underdark region below these areas

first question, what do i have to do to make this legally (no cease and desist, even though it is of content no longer recognized as the right timeline officially, and will not be used for profit)?

and secondly would anyone be interested in helping?

and thirdly is General Forgotten Realms Chat the right forum for this post?

Hi Coach,

stumbled on this great summary of yours during my own researches, as am planning a "Winter Campaign" in Narfell.
Now, one and a half year passed by and was wondering what happened to your project?

BTW:
Looking at the old FR Atlas book there are some more sites and locations named, like Antlerbones, Snowcap, Dungeon Coofole, etc. etc.
So far was not able to find much beside being mentioned in the FR Atlas, had you found any lore for them?

^ is 7 pages (Damara's is 41 :o )

Hmmm..

I ran most of my campaigns in the bloodstone lands. All my stuff is my own though not canon. What exactly do you need?

probably my needs will be varied over the time of the project but the basics are:

1) MAPS - I'm awful with maps/photoshop/etc ... but i feel they are one of THE top items in sourcebooks. They bring a sense of completion and immersion to the writing and are my top priority to get right. But, I can't even begin to help with this part of project other than providing the 100% canon areas to the cartographer

2) STATBLOCKS - I was raised on 1e/2e ... so even though I could statblock 3.5e NPCs and unique creatures, it is very tedious work for me because I have to go step by step and look most of the info up. So I would love to have someone who both has a 3.5e background and happens to enjoy statblocking to tackle this. Good news about this part is that there are iconic/epic characters to tackle and so would be challenging not boring

3) ART - same weaknesses in the Map dept I have here. So someone who could design graphic art of the NPCs/monsters/nature/etc of the area would be awesome.

4) PDFs - I have no experience creating PDF documents which I'm guessing is the best bet for this project.

5) WRITERS - With a project this immense, If I tackled all of the writing it would take 5 years instead of 18months. And so especially (for example Markus and Sossal) if some of you have an affinity for one of the areas (or even locales within the areas) I would have no problem turning it completely over to you to write away.

6) MISCELLANEOUS - whatever else comes up for example a legal person making sure we aren't breaking any

ok coach so you need all that what actually are you bringing to the table LOL? ... well like I said in the OP, I took EVERY FR product* and gleaned EVERY Cold Lands reference and placed all of that info in a 100+ page outline with cited source for each outline entry. That took many years to do.

I own bloodstonelands.com and will provide the funding to host the project

* I may need to check/recheck FR products after I actually shelved this project, some items may have slipped through

My goal is to be done in a year to a year and a half. I would like the sourcebook to be in the same vein as the other 3.5 sourcebooks with a mega-adventure (adventure path if you will) either integrated within or attached

as an example for whoever was interested in helping with the art, we could just collaborate on a step by step basis with the first step being take one of those 3.5e sourcbook covers as a template and using the same font change the wording to The Bloodstone Lands and swapping out the picture

Of course everybody's time is limited. But I can help to ensure that Bob's "The Sellswords" Bloodstone-related material is well represented.

Well, according to the designers, they're going to give the Realms the fans want. They're quoted as saying no matter what era that is. So, considering the majority want pre-Spellplague material, you can expect more pre-Spellplage Realms via 5E...at least that is my biggest hope to come out of 5E.

So when did I stop being a SageTime Lord, and instead become Galactus?

I had a decent map of that entire region, placing all the 1e/2e terrain and features onto the 3e map, but thats gone now. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I never posted any maps of that region.

THIS was a WIP, and barely shows any of what you want, and THIS is the canon map stripped bare for that entire region. Damn shame I lost my 3e Sossal - that was a PitA.

You might also find some useful material in the Northern Journey logs kept here at the keep.

I'd need to know a little more about what you'd require of potential collaborators, before I committ to something like this.

It's just that my time is limited. And while I'm certainly intrigued by your proposal, I don't want to let you down with my lousy attempts at keeping to deadlines and such.

Indeed. Even if time travel was involved, the Sage still wouldn't meet his deadlines!
He's counting on time being circular, so he can be early in the next universe.

Hmmm..

I ran most of my campaigns in the bloodstone lands. All my stuff is my own though not canon. What exactly do you need?
