In Power of Faerūn there is a bit of a huuuge spoiler, as it mentions how the series ends, despite the novel not yet being published. Here is an excerpt:

(Highlight to read)"The resulting conflict drew in the armies of Cormanthro's drow, Hillsfar, Sembia, and Zhentil Keep, but ultimately resulted in the defeat of the demonspawned elves, the reclamation of Myth Drannor and the Elven Court, and the coronation of Seiveril's daughter, Ilsevele Miritar, as coronal of Cormanthor."(spoiler ends)

Looks like the Year of Risen Elfkin means big changes in the Dalelands.

Mod edit: I changed the text color to offer a bit more protection to the unwary.

Trace_Coburn,

We discussed this either in Rich's thread or in the novel discussion about this. :) Try to find the old threads because I believe Rich did give an answer.....

I'd actually like a little clarification on a slightly earlier segment of that sidebar (spoiler-shaded - highlight to read):
"With the aid of the archdevil Malkizid, House Dlardrageth raised an army of demons, devils and yugoloths beneath the boughs of Cormanthor, so Lord Seiveril's Crusade moved eastward to Semberholme."

Now, apart from the whole campaign having interesting (massive) implications for some ideas percolating in my own head, I'd just like to know: how the blue heck does one get tanar'ri, yugoloths *and* baatezu on the same side without their trying to butcher each other on sight? And *keep* them working together without violence breaking out between them at every slightest pretext?

Could anyone who's gotten their hands on Final Gate so far please furnish some details to explicate the circumstances behind this highly improbable situation?

Yeah, it seems likely to me, as well, that Araevin will have to give his life to restore the mythal. Myth Drannor's mythal is seriously corrupt, and it required at least one life for it to be born, initially... Besides, the spoiler doesn't mention Araevin.

I agree that a sacrifice of life is needed to renew Myth Drannor's mythal but lets hope it would not come to that as Araevin is my expected idolized view of an true elven High Mage.

Definetly interested in how this turns out... And if he CAN repair the mythal, can't he repair other lost mythal cities? This is really major stuff. Also can't wait to find out what happens with Malkizid.

Malkizid, I believe he is less likely to perish as he is needed to keep the heretic elves of the EV going. Malkizid is certainly going to survive, more likely on his home plane.

From my interpretation of the novel, it appears that there is a possibility that Seiveril may be KIA during the conflict and if he wasn't, why wasn't he crowned ruler of Myth Drannor or perhaps the ruler blades chose Seiveril's daughter instead.
Also, the daemonfey were prophecised to be defeated in the spoiler but clearly not exterminated totally which meant we may see more action from sassy Countess Sarya, and the drow, Hillsfar, Sembia and Zhentil Keep forces might had been drawn into a grand alliance with the dameonfey to defeat the elves but either they were defeated as well or simply come to a standstill, which I assume the latter.
Assuming that Ilsevele managed to get the hot seat, her consort may likely end up Grand Mage of Myth Drannor or perhaps KIA or MIA in his war with the Archdevil. There is also a strong possibility that high elven magics(likely commanded by Araevin) may had been used to repair the mythal and through the mythal, the city purged of the undesirables and restored to pre-war conditions.
This is just an assumption, may be right or wrong.

I want to do that, too, but I don't know if I'll have time... Once I finish this Drizzt trilogy, I'm taking a two-book break from the Realms... I feel like reading about Aziraphale and Crawley again, and I want to reread the other book before that Tom Hanks movie comes out in May... Then I'll get back to the Realms.

(Yay me! I gave enough info about the books to identify them without giving Big Al something to growl at me for! )

Yeah, the spoiler was mentioned in there a while ago, and it made many of us turn to page 28 as soon as we got our hands on the book.
And having seen it myself... I'm trying to understand now what all the hub-bub was about. I didn't turn to pg. 28 immediately though... because I had a feeling that certain particular elements and events already present in the trilogy so far could be thought out logically to a possible conclusion. And judging by the comments of those scribes who'd managed to view the spoiler before me... I gathered my possible conclusion was pretty much on the mark.

Ahh, someone else edited my post for spoilers, apparently. I hadn't seen the earlier posts, sorry. ;O

Yup the "Giant Space Hamster of Ill Omen" did that.

Yes it came up a few times already in threads that did not have a tag of spoiliers. The moderators were busy that day. Prior to that it was posted by the author, IIRC, that there was a spoiler contained in PoF and request to respect said knowledge until the novels were released.

Not sure you needed to hide spoiliers as topic indicate spoiler on the matter.

Indeed it will be interesting though how it all comes together.

Myself, I didn't think the spoiler was that big of a deal. It was an anticipated possible end for the trilogy. I am curious to see how it all comes about, though.

And we've known about this spoiler since about a week or two before Power of Faerūn first appeared in stored thanks to Eric L Boyd creating a scroll on this very topic.

Oh, and for those interested in reading the whole that excerpt is drawn from, page 28 of Power of Faerūn, in the Warfare in Faerūn sidebar.
