Greetings, fellow scribes!

The 3rd edition FRCS and the 2nd edition acessory The Vilhon Reach both state that the Chondathan cities Iljak and Hlath are locked in a minor trade war over the flow of goods coming up the Old Road. They use mainly mercenaries and adventurers in this proxy war.

My problem with that is: Hlath is so far from Iljak that I fail to see why a merchant would travel over an extra 190 miles to get there, if his goods can be sold in Iljak. It would take 8 more days just to reach Hlath and then 8 more to come back. So I fail to see those cities as serious competitors for merchants traveling through the Old Road.

Any thoughts?
