A celebration today of joining the world this Earth a few years ago (Not saying how many years) clearly should be held.

May you have cake, candle, ice cream and a very nice day celebrating the anniversary of your birth (If my intel is correct, if in error please still have a blessed day).

LOL! Well, then, holy day of the butterfly god, eh? I'll have to remember to make some sort of offering next year! Do you think he likes flowers? Or maybe honey? Or would that be the god of bees?

Sage, I envy you for recieving comics on your birthday. Lately, all I've gotten is cash. Not that that's really a BAD thing.... STILL waiting for my mint first-print copy of Amazing Fantasy #15.... (Props to anyone who knows the significance of this one!!)

I've been trying to use that logic with my wife... She's not buying it, though. I think it's because of the fact that the page in question is on my own website. I keep telling her that it doesn't matter that I put it there, it just matters that it's on the internet!

Alystra, I'm sorry I missed your birthday! Those days are supremely important for many reasons...but for now, Happy Birthday to you.

To keep this "FR related", I concur with MT that it is the celebration of the god of butterflies...since two of us have confirmed it, it must be true since we are on the internet!

You could very well be on to something there, Alystra. I once received second-print copy of Journey Into Mystery #83 as a birthday gift.

LOL, funny, MT. Yeah, I can certainly relate, Wooly. Unfortunately, I work in fast-food, where getting a day off is nigh unto pulling hen's teeth as it is, so, um- yeah. Not likely. And it was on a Sunday, which around here is "old church folks" day. Basically, it's the day all the old-timers come to sit and talk about old times before church, and then everyone comes to get a quick lunch right after, so they can rush home to watch football. And to think I used to LIKE weekends! Of course, I was a kid then, and got to get up late and watch cartoons. I miss those days....

I actually started that tradition when I worked at a Pizza Hut delivery... I maintained it thru several food service jobs, too. My birthday is in January; I usually started putting in requests for the day off around October, and put in new requests every couple of weeks. My domain name, in fact, comes from one of those requests: I decided to write the request in third person, and referred to myself by my nickname, instead of my real name.

It got easier to have that day off once I got out of food service.

Sage, would that be THORSday? I know your partiallity for certain comic characters.... Oddly enough, mine was originally(ie- born on) a Thursday, which also happens to be my zodiac/planetary day, as well as the day presided over by my patron deity (Zeus!). Yeah, I'm with ya on the Thursday thing.

See, there's a reason I never work on my birthday, and I request it off as far out as I can... It doesn't matter if I've no plans beyond sitting on the couch and watching Star Wars or Sin City or something like that, it's my day. I do what I choose that day, not what someone else chooses.
The last time I had my birthday off from work was when my birthday last fell on a Thursday. For whatever reason, I like my birthday falling on a Thursday. Ever since my youngling days, I've strived to ensure that I do exactly and absolutely what I want to do when my birthday falls on a Thursday.

It's such a tradition, now, that both the Lady K and Narnra plan accordingly in order to help me have a "To-Do" list free birthday!

About seven years ago I took some time off.

One day I may go back...

I'll put that on my 'to-do' list right alongside finishing College. I think my 'to-do' list may rival Sages on several levels.

Anyhow, I am glad you are having a better day today then past few, Alystra. And your birthday is FR-related - its the 'high holy day' of Lepidoptera, the little-known Elven god of butterflies.*

*Of course I just made that up... but the mods were watching.

When I requested my birthday off for this year, my boss was reluctant to let me have it -- it was on a Monday, and that's our busiest day. I didn't explain why I was taking it off, and when he asked if it was something that could be rescheduled, I explained that it was not something that could be rescheduled because it had been scheduled very far in advance! Technically, that was entirely true...

In 2013, my birthday is on a Wednesday, so I'm taking that day and the rest of the week off.

Aww, thanks guys! You don't know how much I needed this little bit of sunshine after the last two days. The B-day was, well, so-so, mainly due to having to work, though I had the next two days off after. Yesterday was probably one of the worst days of my life; woke up around 9 to be ready for our monthly apartment inspections, and after they left, I went to wake up the hubby for his pain meds, shot, and breakfast, only to find that he would NOT wake up, and barely even responded to voice, shaking, or anything else. Turns out his blood glucose level had plummeted, and for those who know any diabetics, you probably aware that that is very dangerous. His was > 30. Ended up calling an ambulance and taking him to the hospital, where we spent the next four hours while they got it back up to normal, got him to eat, and took blood, etc. Very scary, to say the least.

The rest of the day was a little better, but neither of us slept at all, and then I woke up this morning with hip pain on the walk to work. Not fun. After all that, my drive-thru "partner" was driving me nuts all day by wandering off to chat, get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc, leaving me to do both my job and hers, so by the end of my shift, I was ready to either chain her to her post, or strangle her- take your pick. Needless to say, my nerves have been shot, and I was briefly contemplating finding the nearest clock tower and sniper post- oh, wait, did I just say that? JK(I think...). But thanks so much for the wishes, it really improved my mood to see that. Love you guys!! (One question; is this the right forum for that? I'd have thought it would be in the Welcome section. Not technically FR related, after all.... )
