Hello All,

It's been a while since I've visited the forums, but I have a quick question.

How can Iritar the Dark of Calaunt (the Vast) control the two doppleganger military barons magically, when dopplegangers are immune to charm effects? Is it possible with 3.5ed rules?

Being immune to charm effects does not make you immune to compulsion effects. Spells like Dominate Person/Dominate Monster aren't charm effects, and so the doppelganger isn't immune to them. If they were immune to mind-affecting effects, then it would be a different story.

Granted, all you need to shut down 90% of enchantment spells and effects in 3.5e is a Protection from Evil spell ("the barrier blocks any attempt to possess the warded creature or to exercise mental control over the creature" per the rules), and Mind Blank deals with the other 10% left over.

Now why in the nine hells didn't I think of that!

Thank you Eldacar.
