The lone goblin, hungry and tired from his long trek, stands up, his head peering above the final hill along the coast overlooking the formidable walls of Candlekeep. He fidgets.

"Nervous, oh noes. Nervous we must not!" he steels himself, trying to muster enough courage to continue his approach. His body is visibly weakened, exhausted from the journey.

"They won't eats us, the tallards? Would they?"

"Of course not! We are not tasties! And no one eats us goblinses! Well, 'cept the giants. And ogres. And trolls. And orogs, and sometimes bugbear cousins be so hungry….. oh never minds!" answering himself. He pauses once again to gather his courage.

"Yess, goes on Gurgle, Fifth Prince of Clan Gutbagh! Future Adept we must be, did say the seers of Gutbagh they did! We must learn from these Brainses among Tallards. Learn from thems we will, their great majiks and hexes."

"And what if they dare teach you not, Gurgle? What then?" he questioned himself again in a low whisper.

"Well, then we settles for nice warm baked raven-pie! Surely they gots warm raven-pie? So starving are we. And fill belly we must. Hex-learning can wait."

Greetings all! New member to Candlekeep (lurked for some months), but not necessarily new to D&D. Hoping to find these forums useful for future FR-related questions, especially lore, campaign ideas, etc.

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Oh, we thanks you so, oh Great Wizards of this Walled Keep. Your hospitability we will remember! Now, please shows us to the larder where you bakes the pickled rats and raven-pies…

Thanks! First curious question…. I was wondering what is the "status" of Candlekeep in the era of 5th Edition D&D historical timelime? It's still around I take it, but what is its population? Who is currently the ruler of Candlekeep? Or is this something we don't know for sure until WotC release that Sword Coast Adventurers Guide book?

Well met, and welcome to Candlekeep.

To my knowledge Candlekeep has never had a ruler. Hopefully the new Sword Coast book shed's some light on your questions.

Look for me and my content at EN World (user name: sanishiver).

Seems like the news of the WotC forums shutting down has driven some refugees this way. But now we've got.... goblins... on the doorstep? Oh dear.

Kidding of course, welcome to the board, you'll find TONS of good info here.
