Granted, it's not strictly about the Realms, but I know myself, Ed, and many of the other scribes here, have all expressed a deep love and appreciation for Terry Pratchett's works and the impact it has had on fantasy-fiction in general.
He's taken the time to share with his fans what he has learned about the reason for the "phantom stroke" he suffered earlier this year.
Truly a sad day for us all!

Indeed, that is sad. |
"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams." --Richard Greene (letter to Time) |

Damm, Alzheimer's really sucks , good luck to him and his family. |
If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

While the news is geniunly saddening, remember what Terry himself said about keeping positive. They've caught it early. No one knows how much time any of us have - and it's no different with Terry.
Alzheimers has been through my family multiple times in the past couple of years and the one thing I learned was to really enjoy whatever time you have left with someone who has it. I say we do the same thing in this case. |

I likewise have had family members suffer from Altzheimers. However the medications available have improved in the last few years. Positive Best Wishes to Terry Pratchet. |

That is indeed very sad. I wish the man the best and must admit that I´m impressed by how he seems to deal with it. |

Let's hope he has a long time to go before the Alzheimer's start's effecting him to much. |

I hope that Terry won’t loose his good faith.
Unfortunately this is – in the late stages at least - more a trauma to the people around than to the actual sick person. So my best wishes are not only are for this great author but to all his family and friends also. |

Sad news indeed. But at least he writes that there's time for a few more books. |

A new article where Terry Pratchett talks about Alzheimer’s. |
