I am so thrilled to have found such a cool forum! I have only just began reading the Forgotten Realms novels, and i just absolutely love the setting and everything else. I have currently been with my boyfriend for three years now, and I laugh at myself every time I remember calling him a dork for reading D&D stuff. (all the while with me reading Harry Potter!) Ha ha... needless to say the name calling was just in good fun. But Still!!! He always told me that I reminded him of Liriel, so naturaly he made me read the Starlight and Shadows Trilogy first. So far I've read that, the Erevis Cale Trilogy, and I am now reading the massive work of Drizzt. So... I don't know that much. I am sure I will learn a lot from you guys as I move forward. There is just SO MUCH! For someone picking up a book for the first time or two it is almost overwhelming!

Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay! |

Greetings to you Iayanna, and welcome to Candlekeep.
Here you will find many curious questions pertaining to the extensive Realmslore of the FR setting. As well, you will also discover many fantastic answers -- some of which have even been generously provided by the Great Sages of the Realms themselves.
So please, take a look around. If you feel the need to ask a question, or to merely discuss some element of the Realmslore, then simply find the appropriate place or shelf within the library and open a scroll. One of our many knowledgeable scribes, the dedicated staff of Candlekeep, or even a visitor to these halls, will always be happy to assist you in learning more about the Realms.
See you in the library.

I say run through the forest in thy birthday suit! That is the most fashionable of all the styles in the Realms! Don't forget to stop and do a little dance, and rehearse your spell to keep the bite-me's away. |

Quick Question- The bio on the profile... how do you guys typically do that up? In RPG mode, or in real life mode? I talked about myself in real life for now. Just so I'm not quite such a stranger at first. But I didn't want to be a goof and do it wrong. :) |

Welcome.
To answer your question, it seems from all the bios that I have read that it's up to the poster. I wrote RP style, but many others write RL, and some do both.
Also, you should visit the Inn - we're having oodles of fun.

Anyone who likes to read something that's really dark and gritty and completely awesome ought to read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. You can check out a little taste at www.BrentWeeks.com I should probably warn you, though, that it is definitely not PG-13 :-D
He also started a new Trilogy with Black Prism, which may even surpass the Night Angel Trilogy in its awesomeness.
