http://news.yahoo.com/photo/071024/ids_photos_wl/r3264693475.jpg is a spiffy photo of Iran's "Black Church" seen from afar, nestled into some hills. My players are heading into the Unapproachable East at this time, and when I saw this photo this morning I thought that it would be a good picture to represent some sheltered monastery or small town in the middle of nowhere, with a minaret/defensive tower/wizard's tower rising above all. Since others have shared pictures of places which they thought might make good representations of some part of the Realms, I thought I'd join the club.

I hope this url doesn't break anybody's screen.
Flippin' huge-monguous URL
As I feared, it drags everything out. Can a technical person explain how I can avoid this?
Mod edit: Added the proper coding, because the link was about half a thread by itself. |

At the top of your page right above where it says who your logged in as is a link called FAQ. If you open that up and then look for "Creating a Hyperlink in your message" it will tell you exactly how you can make it look clean. |
Turox Antas Dragonslayer - "People will believe anything they want to believe, or fear to believe." Wizard's First Rule: Chapter 36, Page #397, US Hard Cover (revealed by Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander). Explanation by Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander: "People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

... Or you could simply edit or quote your post to see how I did it. That was how I first figured out this stuff, before noting the nifty Forum FAQ, which gives examples of all sorts of forum code.

Cool! Thank you. I thought it would be nice to have the players see the church/monastery/tower/whatever from a distance and then see more of it (in closer pictures) as they approach it, with descriptions of what else they see (not in the photos) as they come closer. As of yesterday (Friday) it was possible to find MANY more views of the Black Church on the Yahoo News picture pop-up window. The story's a tenday old already, so they may pull the pictures soon -- caveat viewor. (Caveat visor? Feh! -- it's a dead language.)
